jessica91 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Hey, im experimenting a little with making tattoos for fallout 4 but i cant figure out how to add them to the body succesfully. I wanna do it step by step so you can see what i'm doing and hopefully tell me which steps are wrong 1. i take the cbbe femalebody_d.dds file and open it up in photoshop (i already installed the ps 6 dds plugin) https://s.put.re/C5kjb7o.png this is the message i get when i try to open it (when i press yes it will open up the body with 3-4 little copies of the body in the same picture and when i press no its just 1 time the normal body - i choosed no) 2. open up a tattoo -> copy it to the main body (just a little side question here the picture is at this size -> https://s.put.re/7paUgGo.png and when i copy it to the main body its just like this ->https://s.put.re/yfJ1fPK.png is this normal ? cause when i want that tattoo bigger the scaling ruins the resolution which is kinda annoying. 3. i "multiply" the tattoo ( i dont know the english button-names so i try to translate them from german in english) to the body, like this -> https://s.put.re/62PQTvb.png 4. try to save the body -> https://s.put.re/9sLXwiy.png 5 as off the 1st image it says i have to use "use existing mip maps - when you save" like this -> https://s.put.re/ADuGoVB.png 6. press save [as a sidenote the .dds file i just create is a differnet size the the original (left original, right new) -> https://s.put.re/NaoVjQE.png ] 7. open up the game and it looks like this -> https://s.put.re/R4uLwaJ.png I don't know much about photoshop or .dds files but i really tried to get as much information from youtube, topic's etc. and no one had problems like this.
Guest Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I had a preset I downloaded from nexus with a tattoo on her face. I just went to their site and the NPC was covered in Tattoos. The recommended mod there was "Misfit Ink Tattoos" by aarwyn My implication is that maybe combing through the mod will help you make your own mod. BTW : My PS CS6 is 13.0.1 x32 - and my system is 64bit if thats important

tjure Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I'm sorry to hear that it still don't work for you. :-( Maybe you want to try GIMP? It's free and similar to PS. Or we should try to get it work with the nVidia-Pugin. But for that we should communicate via PM as it will be in german.

I'm really sorry to hear that, I could never get the nvidia plugin to work for me which is why I switched to the intel one. I have cs6 as well, is it saying that with all .dds file you try to open? or were you able to get it working? Ich bin wirklich traurig zu hören, dass, könnte ich nie bekommen die nvidia-Plugin für mich arbeiten, weshalb ich auf die Intel zu wechseln. Ich habe cs6 als gut, ist es zu sagen, dass mit allen .dds-Datei versuchen Sie zu öffnen? Oder konnten Sie es funktionieren?

That's what i did: Downloaded Gimp from here https://www.gimp.org/downloads/ and downloaded the plugin from here https://code.google.com/archive/p/gimp-dds/downloads. I took the gimp-dds-win64-3.0.1.zip Installed Gimp. Copied (just copy, don't doubleclick) the dds.exe from the downloaded plugin folder to C:\Programme\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins Close all windows and fire up Gimp. That's it. To save a dds file in Gimp: Go to Datei -> Exportieren als... -> change the name to whatyouwant.dds -> Exportieren A little window will popup where you can choose your compression (DXT1 for example) and generate mipmaps. Than ckilck OK and your done. I hope it helps.

Seems weird to me that your game crashes only because of your textures - i tried to start fallout 4 without femalebody_d.dds just the dirt body and head textures and it still worked. Maybe theres some others stuff in your load order or your base game has a problem. Is someone there knows how to make paint.net (the latest version) to open my dds, please? sadly no - but try out gimp, tjure did a very good instruction how to install gimp with the dds plugin

But it now it works fine. And thanks for the toturial vid
