New to DOA5, looking for advice.

So to be honest, i've never played any DOA games. But considering its black friday weekend, i'm really considering getting DOA5, but only if i can get a nude mod to work on it. So with that in mind, i have a few questions. I downloaded a nude mod online (it said it had 300 costumes), but my first problem is i'm not sure i have the right version of the game. After looking through steam, there's a bunch of games on steam, but one is "free to play" called "Core Fighters". Does anyone know if the nude mod would work on this one? I dont know anything about it, so basically i'm wondering if this free version is any good, or is the paid version much much better? like how much more content is in the paid version over the free version?

Second question: I see alot of different mods on the list, and even though i'm pretty decent at determining which mods to pick for Skyrim/Fallout4, i dont know the foggiest about DOA5, so i'm looking for opinions on which mods to pick.

And third, after a bit of browsing, i learned that getting the mod working is somewhat of a hassle for this game. Is there one thread with an easy to understand guide to get the mod working? complete with all the links i need to download whatever tools i need. I've read a few guides, but i'm stuck at the part where they all say to edit the "3DMgame.ini" or "steam_api.ini" file. The problem is, my mod didnt come with one. I read somewhere else that mods require at least 1 DLC, but my problem is, i only downloaded the free version, so i dont have any DLC. Not sure if i want to pay for any DLC yet. So is there a place where i can download either of the ini files? would it work if i just create a notepad document and rename it to the proper name, then add in the lines that the guide told me to? or does the mod require more files that comes with a DLC?

I apologise for asking all this, but i've never really bothered with fighting games. The last 3D fighting game i played was Tekken for the old school PS1. So since i'm assuming modding is different for fighting games then it is for MMOs, i'll need some help.

It's pretty easy to install all mods but 1st you'll need to get a modified (mod-friendly) version of the game like the mentioned 3dm which comes with the editable ini file you need to activate mods. It will still work on steam but will not work online although there is a workaround for this which is beyond me lol. This will allow you to use all available mods.

If you just want to install a nude mod alone (without extra costumes) or you want to replace some of the existing costumes then that is a lot simpler and the game will still work online.

Try Holden's pinned thread at the top. It's a great place to start with a very easy installation and it will work online.

I'm not sure about needing at least one dlc and how it works with the free version though. I have the full game and some dlc.

well, i downloaded his mod and followed instructions, but nothing changed in the game. I'm starting to wonder if i'll ever get it to work. Anyway, i'm going out to eat, brb later.

Sounds like you're either doing something wrong or your free game version is just not compatible. But since they no longer sell the full game (it's just a metric ton of dlc instead now), maybe you need one of those. I'm sure someone smarter can tell you lol.

Make sure you're dragging the right folder into the right folder, the installation is super simple (just 1 drag and overwrite) but it actually took me a few tries to figure out what to drag where before I got it right.

its probably because i didnt have a DLC folder. I pretty much just made a new folder and named it DLC. I also probably have the wrong ini file. Any chance you can upload your ini file so i can download it? That's probably the problem.

Edit: So apparantly, after doing a bit of googling, i was missing some files. I needed a crack i guess. So after googling for it, i came across one and downloaded it, and got a couple more files. Followed instructions, set it up, booted game with the launcher that came with it, noticed a bunch of japanese text, and now the game crashes when i try to view the costumes in the character select screen. So now that's another problem i have to deal with. Anyone have any idea how to fix the crashes? I'm starting to wonder if this is really worth the effort. If i can get these mods to work, i'll have no problem spending money buying the DLC.

1)Download game.
2)Extract AutoLink into game folder.
3)In NAME.txt(its in Autolink folder) delete all character which you do not own.(Free version have only 4 character).
4)Place TMC mod in character folder (
example: steam/steamapps/common/DEAD OR ALIVE 5/AutoLink/KASUMI).
5)in game select your mod in detail option.
6)PROFIT.

p.s   Any DLC like mod can be unpacked into TMC with Archive Tool.
p.p.s  If you want more character and official costume - buy it.
p.p.p.s   If you don't want pay - google it.( Cracked version don't have multiplayer )

You don't need any ini files or cracks to install holden's mod. You just need the base game and possibly 1 dlc. You don't even need autolink - that's only for the extra tanline options.

Well to answer ur question, i do not know much about skyrim, but i believe this Game DOA5LR is alot easier to mod, all u need an an crack version which u can google ur self and go from there,

Also all the Dlc here are free no need to pay for high price DLC.

This is a fighting game. Skyrim is an open-world adventure game... The two have absolutely nothing in common...

Skyrim is easier to mod and has about 1,000 times more mods for it. But this game is still fun to play and mash some buttons.
