Hey there.

There are a few settings to look at in the SexLab MCM:

Check the Animations Settings that your character gender is set to "Male."

In the Stats menu, try setting your Sexuality to "Heterosexual."

Are you using any mods that modify your character's original sex/gender? Did you start your character as female and change it mid-game?

As far as I remember, sexlab.esm itself doesn't give you spells to cast to start animations, but the sexlab matchmaker mod does. Is that what you're using? If it is, the order in which you cast the spells determines which actor takes which role. So to start an animation between the player character and an npc you would need to cast the spell on yourself and the targeted spell on the npc. If casting those two spells in that order has your character in the female role, casting them in the opposite order should have him in the male role.

Whatever you use to start an animation, though, you can switch the actors between the different roles with a hotkey once the animation has begun. By default I think it's the += key, but the sexlab MCM will confirm that.

The plain SexLab Framework mod does have debug spells you can use that have pretty much the same effect as matchmaker (from what I could tell). As far as how they determine player positions in comparison to how matchmaker does, I have no idea.

@OP

Whenever I make any MCM changes to my mods, I always create a save AFTER the changes and then reload it, or restart Skyrim. That way I can be sure that the changes will register and take effect.
