munkyspunk Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Hi guys, I'm having an issue here, and I know what event causes it, I just don't know how to go about fixing it. I need help. I know it's a problem with a mesh or texture, but anything more than that I don't know. I'll try to be as specific as possible: I'm working on an outfit mashup, and part of the concept requires me to put a lot of chems onto bandoliers and the like. I extracted the chem meshes using BAE and the put them on the outfit using outfit studio. I changed them to skinned meshes, weighted them, and built the outfit. Only a few pieces of the chem meshes showed up at first in game, even though everything worked in outfit studio. I went into outfit studio, and after some playing found that when most objects shape properties were set to Type - Environment map (whatever that is, I'm a biologist having fun here), they showed up in game with the exception of the glowing blood pack and med-x. Other type settings can cause a CTD - it's hit and miss. But whenever the camera is at certain angles, large visual artifact planes sweep across the screen. I don't think this is a weighting issue, because it happens whatever distance the camera is from the object. But is IS rooted in the meshes, because it only happens with that outfit, and when the camera is at certain angles to the chems. The artifacts also move when the NPC using the outfit moves - sweeping across the field of view. TL:DR - I took static vanilla meshes and put them on an outfit. They're weighted, show up in game, and move correctly, they just cause very strange visual artifacts. rahrahrah Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I think it is likely a weights issue - possibly even just 1 or 2 vertices going astray. I'd check the weight again, and check each bone manually and remove every bone form the selected shape that you don't need influencing the particular mesh. If not that then could only really be a weird BGSM or BGEM file that perhaps doesn't like being used on a skinned mesh?
munkyspunk Posted October 26, 2016 Author Posted October 26, 2016 Just tried that. No good. The artifacts don't necessarily ever touch the outfit, they come from the side, pass through infinity, and then move off to the side. This is why I tend to think it's a texture or bgsm setting issue. Help is real sparse in those areas, which is why I'm hoping someone with working knowledge in those areas sees this. Another shot: http://imgur.com/hYXiGho
