Dreamer102 Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I had just gotten in to work this morning when I got a call from the wife asking me to go pick up a friend of ours whose car broke down on the highway. He was pulled into the little turn-around part of the median that the police use mostly when catching speeders on radar. After picking him up and going to the parts store for parts, we went back to his vehicle and started work on replacing his broken wheel studs. About 40 minutes into the work we hear a loud SCREEEEECH!! Time slowed down... It was just like Trent Reznor describes in that song "Zero Sum". I jump up in slow-mo and look down the side of the median we were closest to to make sure a tractor trailer wasn't coming at us. Nothing there... CRASH!!!! I turn my head to the right and see 10 feet to the side of me a red mercedes flying up over the rear of a grey/silver car and bits of car flying everywhere around me in slow motion. Time catches up... The red mercedes goes up on it's two right wheels screeching like a flaming harpy while the silver toyota jams on it's brakes and stops on the shoulder. There's rubber smoke everywhere. The red mercedes screeches more and slams down on all 4 wheels hemorrhaging fluids everywhere and curves over and slides into the far left lane. I reach for my phone and dial 911. After the 911 call, I recorded this. http://tinypic.com/r/k9eseh/7
Slammer64 Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Talk about Bullet Time Dreamer102, I hope nobody was hurt, or at least not seriously hurt.
Ryanhabs Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 LOL tell me it was the chic driving that mercedes! that would be priceless!
Dreamer102 Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 No one was hurt, but yeah. It was the lady driving the mercedes that caused the accident. She wasn't paying attention to the older lady in front of her slowing down. She tried to change lanes instead of just slowing down and clipped the silver toyota at full speed (approx 60 mph) Good news is, I found a 10 dollar bill in the median. It was covered in grashoppers like they were worshipping it or something...lol.
Ryanhabs Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Somehow I just knew that accident had woman driver written all over it! LOL, no offense to the ladies here on the forums but you all know without me saying this, there are plenty of women that should not have driver's licenses. (there are also plenty of guys that shouldn't have them either. I'm one of them I drive way too fast. I average 80mph almost everywhere I go except the highway... thats 90 to 100
Slammer64 Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Probably she was texting while drying her fingernail polish Ryanhabs
Ryanhabs Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 HAHA! made me totally think of that farmers car insurance commercial where the guy is sitting in the car and the other people start putting lipstick on him and dumping coffee in his lap and that song from a night at the roxbury is playing. LOL too funny!
utv Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 How the hell did your friend break wheel studs while driving? And yeah, that's a cool story seeing as no one got hurt. I think it's amazing how people can film just about anything, anywhere these days and then share it with the rest of the world on the net. Whenever I go out in public these days I try to remember that someone close by is probably filming something. Or has the instant ability to. *Lights!*Camera!*Action!* Maybe it's not Big Brother we left to look out for. It's little brother. Heh. Anyway, thank you for posting it.
Mars Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Very descriptive dreamer, a plus for a Reznor reference as well. Hell of a day.

[/quote'] Well, according to him, he put a new tire on his suv and didn't re-tighten the lugnuts after lowering the vehicle off of the jack. The 2 of the slightly loose lugnuts eventually wiggled themselves free causing enough instability within the rest of the wheel to loosen the other 3 lugnuts and shear the first 2 off. The hard part was getting the studs backed out of the hub because there was a flange in the way. I had to get back to work and leave the scene anyway. Apparently he made out okay because his family went to PA this past weekend in teh same vehicle.
