Guest sinius Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Hi General question, i was wondering if it is against the rules to give links to mods of ported content from other games. I do it for my own enjoyment but i thought i would share if i could or anyone wanted me too. I used to make my own 3d models but to be honest i don't enjoy it anymore, i find this fun though.
Guest Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 One of the Bethesda rules for using/playing FO4 is that you cannot use copyrighted material to do mods for FO4. Now, many of them were done and are available. If it is just an armor or similar then do as you wish. Just avoid explicit copyrighted/paid material like DAZ resources. You can use them only if you have a valid license.
dh87 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 i think it has more to do with the ownership of the models allowing usage for mods because bethsoft and sites like this want nothing to do with copywrite issues like that
joefantana Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 i REALLY hope there isnt a problem i have been wanting the first pictures armor in fallout forever, that and other the frames too
SlapMeSilly Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 So the simple answer: If you have to ask, then it's probably not allowed. If you don't know for sure that you are allowed to copy that model and distribute it, then it's probably not allowed. There may be some edge cases where the rights owners have stated openly in a blanket press release or such that use is allowed. Unless you have a copy of that or some other proof that you were given rights to do so, it's generally safe to assume you are not permitted to do so.
KumamonTheWorshiper Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Or you could post 'em to gunetwork instead. That place is basically Ported Mods: The Website.
Ebanno Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Yeah mate, here in loverslab we have a really nice set of armors ported for Skyrim (some really amazing), and we've never had a problem. There's also the GUN site (http://gunetwork.org/) as said before, where people enjoy a mod community much more enjoiable than just a download hub for ported armor mods. And theres too some pages on deviantart where people share ported content. So, just release your armor mods, theres a lot of people who would love to enjoy content from other games in Fallout 4 community! PS: Regarding copylefts, some content owners gave permission to use their content to make mods, thats the case with Witcher 2 (CD Projekt), Konami (Metal Gear Solid 5) and other games. In time, please port some MGS5 armors to FO4, please!!!PPS: People often talk s... about matters they dont know anything about it. Don't let they scare you with their close minded biased views!
