ENB not working.

Installed 3 different performance ENB since I needed to switch out my current ENB and all 3 of them doesn't seem to be working. 

Strangest thing was, one of them used to work but now it doesn't.

 

The 3 performance ENB I tried to install was:

- Sakyamuni

- Performance XP

- Dreamer Performance (Used to work)

 

They all run into the same issue, they either don't activate and my game remains vanilla or...I get this:

 

Black screen with just the HUD. (Sakyamumi changes colors though, screen still blank in those colors).

All ENBs I know of do nothing to your data folder (which is where all the games contents and your mods go). With that said, what I have done in the past to fix a broken ENB is to cut and paste into a different folder all files and folders besides the Data Folder AND anything else you might deem relevant (there shouldn't be anything else... unless this is where you also have your FNIS folder or miscellaneous external programs related Skyrim) and then, once I've done that, I go to Steam and re-verify integrity of game files... and after that is done, then I re-install the latest Skyrim enb version from Boris Vorontsov's website (Google this) and finally I re-install the ENB that I want to use. This has always worked for me without problem.

 

Basically, all this process does is revert Skyrim's settings back to its default state (without deleting your mods obviously) which allows you to do a clean install of any ENB you want.

 

Other people may have a better suggestion but I find this one to be the quickest and easiest.

Is bFloatpointrendertarget=1 in your skyrimprefs.ini? If not change it from 0 to 1

It's already at 1.

It's already at 1.

 

That's weird.  This method should've been a 100% foolproof way to reset your Skyrim settings to default.  Well, all I can say is:

 

1.  Also Uninstall all Mods that affect the weather.  Any and all weather mods if you have any.  Obviously re-install them afterwards if you'd like but do re-check their compatibility with ENBs again which the author normally states on the ENB's description.

 

2.  Redo the instructions over, step-by-step AND also delete SkyrimPrefs.ini, Skyrim.ini, and BAK_SkyrimPrefs.ini from your My Documents/My Games/Skyrim folder location.  These files will be rebuilt following another Steam game files integrity verification.  

 

3.  Then re-install the latest ENBseries version from Boris Vorontsov (or whichever one your ENB declares is the best version).

 

4.  Finally, install the ENB you want.

 

Try this, and good luck.  Like most people, I have no idea how many types of files can affect any ENB at any given time, there are just too many to list off and its quite unnecessary to do so.  The goal you're simply trying to achieve is to reset Skyrim to its default state.  Also, as a final resort if none of the above works, check your Data folder in the game installation directory to see if you have any ENB related files there.  Normally - and I stress the normally part - there should be none but you never know how original mod authors can get.
