Windbrand Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 I was wondering if skin gloss is based on the body files (femaleupperbody.nif etc) or the texture files? I had always thought the body files determined glossiness, but when I changed textures for my character the gloss is all gone.

Windbrand Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 It's odd because I used "glosstech" to add gloss to my previous character, which takes the body nif files as input, not the textures. Do you know specifically which texture files control the gloss?

You can get the glossy skin effect on custom characters and races with GlossTech just by replacing the _s files. Like you say though, the main replacer does something to the meshes too *shrugs*
Windbrand Posted June 1, 2012 Author Posted June 1, 2012 Thank you, turned out to be the _s files indeed. Nice to get the gloss back.
Siouliusn Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Yep the two are needed, the texture basicaly are for the "shine" that way you can get a nearly metallic texture and the mesh for the "glossiness". But if the _s is black no matter what the gloss value is it should stay mat.
