This tutorial is great. I found it about a month ago and it really helped with the first few characters I made. Now I can make pretty faces in about 10 to 15 mins in the CS or directly in the game. Thanks for the link to it Donkey. I would think this will get a lot of use.

I got into Oblivion arguably late (the GOTY was already out), and while I had already begun tinkering with modding, that guide gave me a decisive nudge in the right direction - igniting a spark of ambition and curiosity. And it's still worthwhile reading!...

nice guide, but i guess i have to patch my brain because my concept of male beauty is bugged... just look at the monstruosities i made while trying to come with a gentleman face

 

i didn't know what overcame me to do this, maybe my redguard had a lot to do

I've actually found that checking the random button a few times, then making small adjustments such as age and complexion followed by a few touches in the face sliders make some nice faces. Just gotta be able to see something you don't like about the face and find the right slider to tweak it =)

Is it too late to answer you now? I actually find the pointy nose and the plump, grumpy lips incredibly cute - The eyes are just wrong. But let me start at the beginning... First of all there is a general rule for face modeling: The lower the face (I mean eyes, nose, lips) on the head, the more childish/cute the character gets. So put those things up, if you want the guys to be handsome. Then make smaller eyes, and don't tilt them outward too much. Actually, my elfie has larger eyes than the usual oblivion folks, but I have custom eyes. They were in the "modular beautiful people pack" and go by the name "fairy eyes" - the iris is big and glossy and this fits large eyes better than the soulless oblivion ones
