Ghouleh Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 I downloaded the game from here along with the rtp thing the wiki suggested. I have Windows 10 if this helps. I changed the language pref.s to Japanese but the rtp thing wouldn't install. I'm not sure what to do, I'm not familiar with this kind of install at all. This is what I get when I try to install the "2000rtp" file suggested by the wiki, here.
booleanquestion Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 First change the folder name to something you can actually read, Windows can't path through wingding crazyness. Second you may need to set the system local to Japan. I had already done it when I installed VH, so not sure if it's needed. To do that you need to go into Region and Language, should be the same place you changed your language settings, and click on "Additional time and date settings" under Related settings. This will probably bring up a new window that has three headings. Under the third heading (Region) there click change location, and get another new window. There should be three tabs on this new window, select "Administrative" and then go to "Language for non-unicode programs" hit the "Change system locale button" and pick Japan. All that work above changes all the crazy jibberish back into Kanji, and makes sure Windows can path through it. It also means that things like winzip and winrar will extract things into Kanji so your computer can read them.

As for the RTP question, you are suffering from mojibake from broken encoding, make sure you unzip, unpack, and run the RTP in Japanese locale for every step.

Whitemn Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 If it hasn't been figured out yet the install under japan in system local, they have many guides doing so on hongfire and such. I think it's the symbol of Y or some variant for folder(/) characters which screw it up. It's how I had to do it since Applocal doesn't work with Win10 when I installed it awhile ago. Unknown if they updated it since, doubt it since it was an old program in the first place, applocal that is, the rtp too as well.

Also, I if you inspect the img gallery you'll find unique ways they went about things, if you ever get into making a game this one would help you in many aspects of getting ideas of featuring a set img that can be expanded upon in the future by either patron chapters or community freeworks.

The game itself hasn't changed much so yea it's too slow, practically dead even though new versions always are coming out(translated versions).
