To all players who has legal and registered copy of Skyrim registered at Steam but still get following message on running FNIS after the game installation or game integrity cache verification on Steam:

>>Warning: Generator not run from a legal (Steam) Skyrim installation directory.<<"

Do the following: just start a game through normal Skyrim icon or TESV.exe in your Steam game directory.

Explanation:

I had to verify cache integrity recently on Steam. After the verification I had to clean my DCL's and some mods using Tes5Edit. When did that and resorted my mods using LOOT, I ran FNIS. Then I was shocked that FNIS showed this warning. But, thanks to fore (very smart guy), there is suggestion of what to do in the case you got this message on running FNIS, just couple of lines above the warning. He knew that Skyrim needs the "initialization" start so that Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini files can be written in My Documents/My games/Skyrim. Without those two files neither NMM would recognized Skyrim as installed.

So, before installation of any mods, after the sole installation of Skyrim, start Skyrim and set your video card settings. Once you do that, you would not receive above mentioned message from FNIS or any error message from other programs like NMM, SKSE and similar.

My apologies for bad English and for taking the space on forum but I thought this tip might be helpful for new Skyrim players and new users of FNIS, NMM and programs that will report a game errors.
