ENB doesn't work

Recommended Posts

When you launch the game do you have a notice in the upper corner of your window on the left saying enb is running when on the title screen? if not then the enb drivers were not installed properly. if it does show up but the graphics don't appear to look like the enb you downloaded, then the bleak enb was likely not installed properly. which will isolate where the problem lies. also what settings did you change in the ini and pref files? you're likely just missing a step somewhere.

Lets just check allthe steps, shall we?

1 - Turn off effects that ENB will be replacing

1. Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) and Wrye Bash users open the Skyrim menu through Steam. Mod Organizer (MO) users run Skyrim Launcher through MO.
2. In the options section, turn off Antialiasing, Anisotropic Filtering, and FXAA. (in the advanced section)
3. In your video driver, set the features from step 2 and Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) to "Application-Controlled" (Nvidia) or "Use application settings" (AMD). Only do this for Skyrim.

Nvidia users look here and here to see the required driver settings. AMD users will have similar settings.
(If you prefer driver forced Ambient Occlusion (SSAO), you are free to enable it in your videodriver settings, but don't forget to set EnableAmbientOcclusion=false in enbseries.ini in Skyrimfolder after install step 4!)

2 - Download and install ENB client binary

1. Download ENBSeries  from enbdev.com

2. Copy d3d9.dll AND enbhost.exe from the wrapper folder into your game folder

3 - Download the ENB preset you want

In this case ENB unbleack. Extract everything into your game folder (using a FX Manager is also recommended so in case you want to remove it you dont leave files behind by mistake)

4 - In your game folder edit the file enblocal.ini and use your own settings

The easiest ENB mod for a novice to install is perhaps RealVision as it uses a fomod installer so the only things you need to do manually are copy/paste the d3d9.dll and enbhost.exe  from the Enbdev.com site to the Skyrim folder and edit the enblocal.ini and the Skyrimprefs.ini.

You could try going into the Skyrimprefs.ini, look under [Display] and change the fGamma = setting to a lower number, but try small adjustments in case you make things too dark.

Because is meant to be used with CoT 5 and ELFX

If you want to give it a try use this version of Real Vision instead

- Cot 5 is Climates of Tamriel, a Weather and lighting mod

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/17802/?

Only use it if you do not have another  weather mod installed, else you will have to pick one

- ELFX is Enhanced Lights and FX

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27043/?

Same as before, only install if you are not using already a lighting mod (like RLO for example)

If you install ELFX during options add "enhancer" + "Exteriors" + "Ice"  and, if you have installed Static Mesh Improvement Mod, "SMIM"
