Just tried to add an esm as a master to an esp using TES5Edit. After restarting TES5Edit(in order to allow the change takes effect), every record in the esp is injected in the esm, making records in both files messed up.

How can I prevent this to happen?

Well it depends on what ur trying to do?

Run tesvedit all plugins first, apply filter for confict loss (write down what conficts first) then load ONLY the 2 ones thats gonna get altered (their masters will load automatically).

This time u apply filter for cleaning, now the changes u want to make u should choose from the mod that is going to get overwritten ->inject to ni override->name a new one->

now u add the master to this mod. only the manually injected data should get altered in ur own patch.  If u just say add a new master llike that i think bizzare thinks can happen. doors will start to talk and rain will sound like chicken.

Sorry I didn't get what you said...

The esm is my self merged item master, the esp is an npc mod. They have completely different records, they don't conflict by any means. When I add the esm as master to esp, the esp records are automatically injected into the esm, and there become conflictions simply because the records in both file have same formid - armors from the esm conflict with npcs from the esp, this is so wrong. The esp shouldn't be injected into the esm, in the first place. I wonder if there is a way to do so.

Thanks.

Ok alright.

Solved by using CK to add the master.

I shouldn't be so lazy. Lazy enough that I even didn't want to launch CK.
