Bad to the Bone (WIP)

Well I've decided to start modding after an enternity and I wanted to make some kind of armored bikini with skull pauldrons and what not . . . Well having many bikini meshes at my disposal I was too indecisive to chose one and somehow settled with this:

Yes this looks similiar to an armor another modder was working on (I can't recall who it was), but this is merely incidental (I'd like give him/her credit for inspiration anyways). To be quite honest it's far away from what I was intending, but I guess that's better than nothing. I was suppose to have a helm, but it's not working the way I want for some reason. *Sigh* What I'm going to do with this risky little piece? Dunno. Maybe make a mod out of it. Maybe turn it into a modder resource. Now if I can figure out out how to add weapon nodes I might be able to turn a femur into a makeshift club.

Edit: I added an attachment since Imageshack removed my image. *Sigh*

If I may make a few suggestions...

1. The 3 skulls that are covering the naughty bits. Don't have them looking down at the ground. They should be level, and laughing back at the viewer.

2. It seems kind of odd for skulls to not be attached to anything. So make some kind of bikini-like meshes. Now I did not say "make a bikini mesh" -- I said make a bikini-LIKE mesh. If you want to make strings for a panty, make a panty string: but dont use a regular string. Make it a small string of skulls, like beads. You could do the same for the top. Or even just a necklace of tiny skulls, that would also look nice. Maybe a collar or choker of some kind.

3. The same applies to the gauntlets and boots. Don't just have 1 or 2 skulls to cover the wrists and feet. Build a whole glove out of skulls. Okay, so maybe that cannot be done for the fingers...but you can still cover everything from the wrist to above the elbow. I could maybe draw some ideas for you but I think you get the picture.

This is not meant as discouragement. You are off to a very good start and I want to see this outfit finished.

Thanks for the suggestions. As for the gauntlets/greaves of skulls, I was going to make an actual bikini made of skulls (with mini skulls making up the thin pieces of fabric that would tie everything together), but I realized I would then need to weight all of them and gave up. I think I'll use different types of bones such as the small bone for that job. Maybe I can use it to wrap around the arms and legs to create vanbraces and better greaves. *Sigh* A necromancer's work is never finished (not with those pesky cathars interrupting you every few days . . . Damn Avacyn and her angels!)

Your image was removed by imageshack. You may want to try a different image host.

Otherwise, sounds like an awesome outfit. Hope to see an image or two soon.

Well I'm just going to spam skulls (man the number of heads that must have been taken to make this armor must been alot!)

Well it seems that for whatever reason testing my armor in the CS causes it to crash. Considering the amount of hours I spent working on it and to come such a sudden conclusion will set me back a lot. =_=

Don't be discouraged. If you need to take a break from it, then take a break. It is probably either a weighting issue, or the skulls just have too many polys when added up and this causes the CS to crash. Try subtracting the skulls one at a time and see what makes the CS happy.

To get them to export the first time I had to reduce the poly's so maybe I'll need to reduce the poly's again. As for removing the skulls... I joined them together to save time on selecting them when weighting so if anything I will have to delete them and add the skulls from scratch. On another note the feet didn't appear when I equipped the boots while having the original foot mesh being apart of the boots so I'll have to figure out the cause of that too.

Edit: I've reduced the poly's an additional time and the CS didn't crash, but when I equip to a character in the CS the body part the item is slotted for just disappears. Considering the meshes only use a skin texture and the stock skull texture, there should be no normal map problem especially since the my first attempt worked perfectly (save for the helmet I've put aside working on). As the first attempts were made straight in Nifskope and weighted in blender where as the recent version modifies the original in blender I might have to start from scratch if only to test my theory. This is both frustrating and intriguing considering that the error appears to be something I did thereby I should be able to fix. I'll post again once I've figured something out.

I'd love to give this a try if you ever manage to sort everything out for a release. I think this would be perfect for my x117 barbarian female I'm thinking of creating xD
