Jordick Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 First of all, I know that it might be little unusual to ask this here and I'm sorry if this is the wrong place, but I really have no idea where else I could ask this. I use the VNR ( Visual Novel Reader ) to play J-RPG games made with the RPG Maker software. So far things have been going well and the VNR has translated the games with no problems. But lately I ran into this strange problem with the VNR and I haven't been able to find anyone with similar case like this. The problem is that whenever I'm trying to play a game, be it RPGs or VNs, the VNR won't translate the game text (to english). The translation box shows up, but it's empty, as you can see from here: the "[ ]" should be the characters name and the "....." should be the comment, but as you can see it's not translated. When I check the "Menu --> Text Settings" and look for identical Text threads, the identical threads shows up and they're selected to be used: ...or I think that the correct Text thread is selected to be used I have played this particular game before, so I know for sure that the VNR is capable of translating it (because it managed to do just that before). I have tested this with several other games, RPGs and VNs alike, to see if this problem only occurs with the selected few games, but they ALL have this exact same problem: the identical text threads are found, but the english translation itself ain't showing up. Also to be noted, that every game that I've tested were games that I've played before and the VNR was capable of translating them back then. As I've mentioned already, I've tried to find some solutions for this myself from the internet, but so far I haven't seen anyone with this particular problem before, so I'm starting to get desperate with this. I did try to make clean re-install for the VNR to see if I messed up some settings, but it was no use. I also noticed that whenever a game is launched, the VNR should detect it and load the online comments/threads afterwards, but that never happens. The VNR does detect the game, but it never loads that online content, but instead I get notified that "loading offline comments". I'm not sure if this has anything to do with this whole problem. (VNR does have green lights in my firewall settings however) So if anyone have any solutions or hints how to get the VNR working again, I would really appreciate it.
Jordick Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 Crist...how did I miss this.. While scrolling the VNR settings I stumbled into "Preferences --> Account --> Ui " and I noticed that the language had been changed from English to my native language. By changing the UI language back to English the translations started to show up again. Such a little thing, but yet so important and easily missed. Anyways, sorry for bothering you guys with this pointless thread. >_<
