How can I export texture maps in Autodesk 3ds max to Skyrim?

Title. I have recently tried porting a model to Skyrim (for personal use of course). I converted the game file to FBX, ported it to 3ds max, exported it to nif using the plugin and then opened in nifskope.


I manually added the BStexture property, and converted the textures to .dds (DXT5  ARGB   8 bpp | interpolated alpha). This was the result:




As you can see, the textures are royally fuwarked up.


Where are the texture maps stored? How can I ensure that 3dsmax exports them correctly?
