MajinLuffy Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 I found out about sexy modding Skyrim last year but I couldn't make physics and collisions in sex work like I wanted to so I forgot about it. Recently I gave it a try and this time I could (a lot easier thanks to the work of excellent modders ) so I have been downloading a lot of mods I'd like to try but almost always it seems I have to make compromises with other mods when I install a new one, like change the body type I wanted to use because the HDT pack I'm using doesn't support the one I decided to use, or disable another mod, or simply not use a race I wanted to use because it seems to mess the textures and/or body mesh from said HDT pack or armor pack I was going to use. So on and so forth. So I realized I've been for days now tweaking with the mods trying to find a combination that sacrifices as less features that I like as possible and pretty much dumping all my time into that without actually playing. And it struck me: I might never find one and at this rate I will never actually play more than a few hours with one save before I have to start all over again because I changed something with the mods. So I'm here now thinking if I should just get a few mods working with whatever they work fine, play to my heart's content, then something like change the body type and then use other mods that weren't too compatible with the last one I used. play to my heart's content, repeat until I don't want to play Skyrim anymore xD. I'd like some input from people with more experience playing modded Skyrim, if actually found "The Perfect Mod Setup" for them after a long time, of if they just do that, try a few thing at a time, etc. I know I have the tendency to try and do everything in one go as in my first vanilla playthrough I played kind of ranger khajiit but took way too long to finish the game because I pretty much tried to do every quest even if it really didn't made sense with my character (like the wizard's guild line of quests).
BlackArk Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 You will get to a point where you are not able to install too many mods anymore because of save corruption. Read about it here it is very interesting. https://www.loverslab.com/topic/56588-corrupted-saves/ I pretty much reached that point already. I will occasionally install a new follower or weapon/armor but that is about it. Well... I'll make one exception for chesko's mods. There are amazing people working on a fix that increase the threshold but there is a hard limit.
AuronXCZE Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 I know where the pains comes from i have the same issue as you Majin, i mod and mod and mod till it crashes (max was about 387 mods) but thanks to MO it rarely bothers me since different profiles is a great help, but as Ark said, there will be a point you cant do much anymore, but i reached a different point also, and that is the script load the game engine can hold stable, there are a lot of factors to this, but i reached the point where my PC cant handle all the scripts, so the game runs sluggish, and crashes (increasing the block size saves some of those) Anyway, i have a stable set up with aprox 160 mods that are the fine balance between performance, stability and looks on my main profile. one profile what pushes my PC to its limits, and one for mod ''research'' (basically trying to get them play nice together > Im looking at you Defeat, SD+ and DA) and that what works, i transfer to my main profile
