Zap sliders make body gone and general sliders

I'm figuring out outfit studio and find that sometimes when I mask out parts of the reference body, that sometimes the whole thing goes away after adding a zap slider.  Sometimes that doesn't happen.  Any idea what may cause that?  What seems to be happening is that the zap ignores the mask, as if the mask wasn't applied.  (Yes, I know that I need to be aware of what I'm masking and whether I need to inverse)

 

 

Also, what's the general approach fixing clipping with sliders?  Just do one at a time or do them all at once?
