hi. first of all i downloaded a hair replacer pack mod from Nexus. Then i found out in here, Loverslab, you can put the new hair on npcs by extracting them (ctrl+f4) from the CK. since i didn't see any changes in npc's hair, i use the CK, press ctrl+f4 on every actors, and now it works fine.

but the problem is, whenever i make a new actor/character, in game their faces would be darker than their body color, but the preview in CK does not show this problem at all.

anyone know how to fix this? tried with console setnpcweight but it didn't work. also tried to redownload and reinstall the 'oriental beauty' mod which i used but it didn't work either.

hi. i find a fix for this. but i don't know if it would work for anyone other than me.

recently i downloaded patches for skyrim, from 1.2 until 1.6.

then i install it one by one, first from 1.2, 1.3, until 1.6.

after i done that, i open the game and loaded my save, the darker face problem is fixed automatically.

hope this helps anyone who have this problem.

ctrl-F4 extracts the face geometry tint codes so that NPC's you modify via CK (ie. after changing their hair style or nose shape, etc) don't wind up with the dark face issue. If your version of skyrim was earlier that 1.4x (which corresponded with the CK release) then that probably explains why you wound up with persistent dark faces even after using the setnpcweight 0 command on them.

I am interested to know whether your CK still works properly now after having updated to 1.6x though. I've avoided this latest update because it was a beta version to begin with, and since then because others have said that a CK version yet to be released is required for compatibility with the new update.

well yeah, that might be the problem. about the CK, at first it doesn't. but after i patched the game, i re-copy the CK data files into Skyrim data files, overwrite if asked, then open the CK, and it works fine. Still have my backup though if later at some time it give me troubles.

really? i am using the Apachii hair mod, even before the newest version 1_3. i didn't patch the game back then, so i can't use the fixed version of 1_3, because it requires the update.esm. before 1_3, update.esm is not required in the game or CK. maybe it's fixed because it uses update.esm as one of it's parent masters? or maybe like you said, the meshes that the author uploaded fixed it.

either way if you are not using apachii maybe it's best to patch the game. the darker face problem could exist even if not using apachii (using original in-game hairs)
