Guest Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I don't know if this is the right location for this topic, but I was wondering if it's possible to port Sims textures to Skyrim? If so, what exact programs do I need to use? I am going to use the textures for personal use.
Guest Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Porting a "texture", technically speaking, it is not really complex because all of them are some sort of DDS file. But you may have huge problems in the different UV maps used by the two games. So, it can be really difficult.

I've downloaded plugins for them both, but nothing seems to work.

You need a file with extension DDS to be able to try.

You need a file with extension DDS to be able to try. Sims is in package files, which contains both a .geom (mesh) and the texture (which I have converted to a .dds). If I do retexture an armor, do I need the mesh file for it look the way it's supposed to?
Guest Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 You want just to port a texture (difficult but possible) or a full mesh? in case of a mesh it can be really complex, because the mesh format is for sure different. So you may need to pass through a 3D editor with all the plugins to import from Sims and export to Skyrim. It is not an easy task.

I would like to import whichever one will make it look like it does in Sims (which I am guessing is the full mesh). I am having difficulties converting the .geom file so one of the 3d programs will recognize and upload it. I have the dds file, but the mesh is the part I cannot seem to figure out.
Guest Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Sorry, can't help on that. And I am pretty sure it is complex to do. Some other Contributors have experience in both Skyrim and Sims and may give you some advises. But I will NOT post their names. (Just check for some Contributor that posted some download for The Sims.)
