ketiax Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 So yeah I've had this issue for a while now. It was okay but now since I'm doing a roleplay run it bothers me. So I use Custom Race mod and my character is a CustomBreton. When I put on some armors, somehow it doesn't show on my character. If I change my race into the regular race, it appears, but not on Custom Races. Some armors from mod doesn't appear, and so far a vanilla armor that doesn't appear is Amulet of Dibella. I have no mods changing the amulet and other amulets actually appear if I wear them. It bothers me now because I'm roleplaying as a Travelling Dibella Sister, so if I don't wear the amulet it just seems weird. Anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.
Guest Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 The armors in skyrim (pretty much everything you can wear, not just real armors) are defined for a specific set of races. (Actually are the armor addons, but this is technical.) If an armor is not supposed to be used by a race, then you cannot wear it. Why? Because many of the armors include an actual body inside, so applying an armor that has a body of the wrong race will create a problem. If your "CustomBreton" race is really close to the breton Race, then you can edit in CK the armors you want and add CustomBreton to them.

Guest Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 There is a special race called DefaultRace. Some items that will be good on all playable races have just this one set. In this case all races (also custom) will get them for free.
ketiax Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 So I just went and checked it (actually it's still open as I'm trying to figure it out), but Dibella amulet is set to DefaultRace, and CustomBreton is activated as well. It pretty much have the same setup as Mara amulet, yet Dibella still doesn't show while Mara does. Weird.

Dillpickle Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 If you're using the same body for your custom race as you are for the default races, then you can set the 'Armor Race' (under copied data in the general tab of your custom race record to one of the default races and it will use all armors assigned to that race.

Sorry, but I don't quite understand that. Do you mean copying the armor from default races to the custom race folder? If so, my Custom Race doesn't have specific folder for that so I'm not sure where to paste them. Another thing, I can't find the textures and meshes for vanilla armors. Where are they?
Dillpickle Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 No, open up your custom race in CK, and find the relevant race record. This only works if you are using the same body for the default races and your custom race - eg. CBBE for both. If you use a different body for the custom race, eg. UNP, and CBBE for the default races then you will get texture issues.
ketiax Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 Thanks for the thorough explanation, Dillpickle. I went and checked, but my custom race is already set to use DefaultRace for the Armor Race, so that's apparently not the problem.
