Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Anyone know any mods that add good looking pigtails ?
Poontank Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I assume you're not after the extreme 'Pretty Cure'-styled exaggerated look but more decent, girlish hairstyles? So here is a small hair pack I compiled from several mods: http://www.mediafire.com/?v59o4avolvm7sz6 It contains KKK hairs in regular and x117 size (naturally, my main character's favourite styles!), Hepsy hairs regular and x117 and three other additional styles I like very much. This is for Oblivion of course, but they can be easily converted, I guess. A preview picture for all the hairdos: Sure, some of them are already part of MBP. But in case there are indeed hairstyles you haven't got yet but don't want to implement in the CS, I've also included a certain mod to easily select them in-game. All the hairs in the archive are specially optimized with use of this mod in mind (because to make this mod work, hair mesh and texture file names have to be identical, so I took care of that).
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Well, I was looking for more of braided pigtails, that said those look great. I never really use MBP unles a mod requires it, it always ends up causing issues for some reason. As for braided pigtails, I've SEEN them in screencaps posted on occasion, but never actually manage to find them. but yeah, thanks, thats deffinitly closer than one of the rens hair from the corean race mod I usually use.
Poontank Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Ah, I think I know which one you mean - 'Sleepy D's Number 16'? - Here is this hairstyle: http://www.mediafire.com/?wje8zj69xttdx6b It's taken from Sleepy D's hair pack, not his wig mod, because those hairdos have only three fixed colors (though that's not a real factor if you change colors with VipCxj's system). The included textures will automatically use your character's hair color from the race menu.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Sweet, thanks. Does the same .esp as your previous upload also manage that one too ? Oh, PT, can you give a more detailed explination on that mod ? It's not giving me any hair options, I may have installed slightly wrong. -installed the mod with your first link -went to nexus, and grabbed the obse plugin required, as mentioned in that mods readme -installed the hair textures to the folders I THOUGHT were specefied (Meshes/Textures). Now, do the mesh/texture folders for each hair go into the regular mesh/texture file, or is there something different to do ? Or was I supposed to edit the .ini file ?
Poontank Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Yes, any hairstyle you put into this mod's mesh and texture folders will be affected by it as long as the files have identical file names. At first I was missing out on this rather crucial bit of info in the readme and wondered why many hairstyles didn't work/show up in the game. To make the mod work, you need to generate two specific folders. The file paths should be 'Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Data/Meshes/Characters/VipCxj/Hair' and 'Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Data/Textures/Characters/VipCxj/Hair'. Every hairstyle you want to use with the mod must be distributed to these two folders, its mesh goes into the respective '...Meshes/Characters/VipCxj/Hair' folder, the texture files go into the corresponding texture folder. And finally - your keyboard's key layout is important! My German keyboard has a different layout, so pressing the key combination the readme mentions didn't do anything for me, in my case it's rather SHIFT and ',' or '.'... Another point of importance is the fact the mod changes all the hairstyles of the same type for everyone in the game. If you change an NPC's 'Wind Braids' hairstyle to 'SKS New 14', every other NPC also sporting 'Wind Braids' will be affected, too. In case a player character has this hairstyle, it will also be replaced with the SKS hair - to avoid this, open the mod's 'control center' menu, go to the top menu option 'Hair Style' and toggle 'Default' from '+' to '-'. And sorry for forgetting to include the required plugin collection, when I packed the archive I falsely thought only the high heels system from the same author depends on that. Apologies for forcing you to visit the Nesux!
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 ok, so it's these two paths 'Data/Meshes/Characters/VipCxj/Hair' 'Data/Textures/Characters/VipCxj/Hair' Simple enough. And no problem for the plugin, the readme for the mod linked to it. btw PT you should hop on the LL IRC sometime. EDIT: Ok I used the two file paths listed above. Into the hair folders, I pasted the texture/mesh folder contents from the archives. But when I go to change style ingame it doesn't change hair style. The folder DID have propper directory structure for this in your first archive, the one with the .esp in it, had .ini's, do I need to configure them as well ?
Poontank Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 If these conditions are met: the mod and the plugin collection are correctly installed and activated (esp high up in the load order), hair meshes and textures with matching names are placed in their corresponding folders and the 'Hair Style' option in the 'Hair Eye Set Controller' menu (in the 'Misc Item' inventory) is set to '+', the mod should be working whenever you press the key combination. It actually has no ini file to tweak at all. It really should have one to address such things like the mentioned 'changing one NPC's hair changes every other NPC using this same hairstyle as well' problem. I'm still hoping one day someone script-savvy will take up VipCxj's work, finally bringing it to perfection. Remember: The key combination to change hairstyles - for the majority of users with their QWERTY keyboard layout - is the one from the readme, SHIFT + '<' and SHIFT + '>' to cycle back and forth between the hairstyles in the VipCxj meshes folder. I just have to press a different shortcut because I'm using a QWERTZ keyboard. It's also helpful to use the console command TFC so you can better check your character's new look from every angle while selecting hairs. Hairstyles which are conformulated to fit a specific head mesh sometimes have funky clipping effects with other head types (use the same console command once more to toggle free/flying camera mode off again). But this is for later, getting the mod to work properly has top priority. By the way, have you seen? They changed their URL again, it's now 'Oblivion.Nexusmods', not 'TES.Nexusmods' anymore. I've read a post on a different forum about the possible culprits behind that, but I need to verify some things before I comment in one of the Nesux threads on here.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 I think it may be simplest if you show your folder structure . As for load order, I shall change that now, I had it at or near the bottom so it wouldn't be overridden by anything. Also, hop on the fourms IRC channel, be quicker to do this in realtime chat. edit: and suddenly now its working where before it wasnt. Thanks man. Luckily I was using a custom hair to start with so I dont think many if any NPCs will cahnge too.
Poontank Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Very good to hear it finally works! Maybe it was just a load order problem from the beginning. When I installed the mod about half a year ago, I hadn't the Construction Set knowledge yet to add hairstyles to races. Though nowadays I know how to do it, I still keep using VipCxj's system out of lazyness, because of the sheer number of my 'actors' (NPCs/companions) with slightly more extravagant hairstyles. Editing them all will surely take a while... Another big project for the future. Are you frequently on the chat? No specific time to meet you there required?
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted May 4, 2012 Author Posted May 4, 2012 nope wasnt load order, didnt change that. and yeah, I tend to leave my PC running with IRC up and just idle. Half of the activity in the IRC channel is people entering then leaving within a minute. Or entering, getting mad noone responded right away, then leaving.
