Skyrim: The Journey - Mod Organizer help?

Hi all,

So I just downloaded The Journey. It's a Skyrim mod compilation with a whole lot of mods compiled together. The issue that I'm having is how I could install it into Mod Organizer. I've searched everywhere on Google and there doesn't seem to be a solution.

Has anyone tried installing this mod before using Mod Organizer? Help would be appreciated!

Sounds to me like it is already an installed mod list, meaning that you don't have the sources of said mods to use in mod organizer, I'd personally stay away from that kind of package.

i would be better manually installing mods rather than downloading a package mods there could be more issues on that and some are hard to trace

Alrighty then. I'll stay clear of the package and install mods separately. Was hoping this would be an extremely easy setup, but I suppose I was too optimistic! :/

I actually recommend Skyrim Perfectly Modded. It actually performs way better than Skyrim Journey (which I found to not run that great and my PC isn't that bad and I have a modern GPU). Journey was nice for a challenge, but doesn't have HDT or anything needed for most other mods on loverslab. Plus Journey was not made very well.

But Perfectly Modded is also not that hard to get ready and setup, just need to follow the install instructions. Need to make an X drive with 100 gigs of space on it, but that is easy to do (just follow the instructions). And it uses mod organizer and everything is pretty much set up to go. I learned a lot of using mod organizer because of PM lol. I've also been playing it for over 500 hours (think close to 600 now) and works really great. That and as I sorta mentioned, it has HDT and all the stuff ready for that.

PM works better than any custom mod setup I ever did lol. I gave up trying to do custom mod setups because after hundreds of hours of rage at mods breaking Skyrim, I gave up and went to find compilations (that are hard to find for Bethesda games lol, but thats cause modders for Bethesda games aren't like dwarf fortress/torchlight or total war modders at all, who all love their mods being used by other mods. Its definitely a far more friendly modding community on the DF/Torchlight and TW modders. Dunno why Bethesda modders (the morrowind modders were the worst though lol, Skyrim modders are way friendlier overall compared to there) are like that and tend to be pretty cutthroat about even a hint of similarity in someones mod that might be like their own, but oh well.).

In any case, PM like I said works great, and he merged mods really well (any time I merged mods, I'd need to reinstall the game because it broke shit lol). Using PM is way more fun and vastly better than any mod setup I ever did. And it includes TONS of mods, more than I can ever add, and STILL make a fully working, playable game. Also, PM performs vastly better (and I never get CTDs at all in my entire nearly 600 hours of playing it. Not one single CTD.) than even vanilla (for me). Vanilla skyrim I'd still get crashes, but PM that doesn't happen at all, AND I get more FPS with it than vanilla.

Of course, downloading a compilation, if something doesn't work its pretty much impossible to find the mod involved (especially if he did a ton of merged mods). However, I find that isn't an issue at all in PM. And the couple things he possibly found (like the realistic water textures) and a couple bugged perk trees are easy to fix by messing with the load order, and he did post how to fix it. I never had bugged perk trees though, and water was always the same for me, but I guess some people's mod order they changed or messed with with new mods. Only mods I added was the custom race I use, and some armor/clothing additions.

But yes, if there happens to be a big problem in the mod that is undetected (haven't seen it, its just an example) it be pretty impossible to find. With that said, when I tried making a nice big mod setup like perfectly modded, I'd get a game breaking bug or crash in a certain location, and I couldn't ever find the mod involved lol. Probably a bad script or something. Personally, I'll never do a custom mod list again for a game, doing it for Skyrim made me need medication for blood pressure (had to take it for an entire year, but don't need it now) because it pissed me off so much trying to mod Skyrim and I needed to take anger management classes for it lol. I wanted a big epic mod list like Perfectly Modded that worked out of the box without dealing with Skyrim crashing all the time. Bethesda modders might hate compilations, but that is only type of mods I'll ever download lol. In fact, I was even told never to mod any game due to health concerns (almost had a heart attack from it, but did get an extreme panic attack that caused me to go to the emergency room), because of how angry Skyrim modding made me.

But compilations are fine my psychiatrist told me, because they generally come pre-built and already working and I didn't spend so much of my life trying to make it work (except Journey is pretty badly made, but I don't get angry when its someone elses compilation that doesn't work lol. I just laugh that the compilation was shtitty. At least I didn't waste 100s of hours setting it up, just had to wait for the download lol). So if I want to use mods for any game, I actually need to use compilations for them, since that is what my psychiatrist told me.

Of course, to end it off. Since someone is probably gonna say "then don't mod the mod game idiot".  Since well yeah I agree with that, modding Skyrim made me need to go to the emergency room lol. And I am actually not gonna mod the game, you would be right :P I'm going to let others mod games for me :D That is in fact what was suggested by both my psychiatrist and doctor if I want mods in different games. The only exception is if its already really easy to mod the game (like Cities Skylines is super easy to mod).

But bethesda games (except for Morrowind is epic even without mods) kinda really suck without mods and they become some of the best games with mods :P I wouldn't even play Skyrim if there were no mods for it lol.

Also, I should add. Before the extreme panic attack, I had destroyed my monitor/pc because of how angry skyrim modding made me. I actually destroyed my entire pc twice with a hammer both times, but the 2nd time I got so angrier and anxiety got so bad is when I had to go to the emergency room. And rest is what I said happened lol.

I almost never get angry in real life, but Skyrim modding is the first thing that ever made me so angry lol. Before Skyrim, nothing ever bothered me in gaming because its just a game. But skyrim modding just pissed me off too much with all the crashes and all the bugs.

I even tried that STEP guide, followed it three times 100% as directed, and Skyrim still crashed tons and broke on me lol.

Wow! Thanks for the reply!

I'll try out Perfectly Modded tonight and see how it runs. If I do run into problems, as you said, then I know the consequences will be more harsh than installing single mods. :/

Your personal story also surprised me. I hope you are doing better as of now. I got your PM as well; thanks for all the information!
