Non Dark Nights ENB?

Recommended Posts

I'm tired of every ENB for almost every game giving darker nights because "mah immersionz! I shouldn't be able to see at night!"......

I'm playing a video game. I want to see at night so I know what the heck I'm doing. From every game I've played with ENB/Reshade/SweetFX/etc, they all love making nights pitch black or barely visible.

For once, I'd like to find an ENB that doesn't do dark nights.

I've been playing around with Vanilla ENB. I like it so far, not too far from vanilla with a few tweaks to give it a better appearance. But it suffers the same thing that all ENBs do. Making nights darker so you can't see anything.

I've tried messing with the config tool in game to try and brighten the nights, but nothing seems to change it. I've spun that wheel around on all the settings and nothing is being changed. So no idea how to fix it to have normal nights.

So anyone know an ENB that doesn't do darker nights? Would be shocked if you find one, and appreciative, thanks.

I hear ya.

Its a right pain finding an ENB that doesn't give a person night blindness.

The sad thing is that, in real life (which most of these try to emulate) nights where I'm at are not nearly that dark.

I can see fine at night IRL and my vision isn't perfect, WTF these people live that its that dark?

Anyway darkness being darker is caused more by pollution which for the most part to use an overused sentiment "after 200 years" it wouldn't be so damn dark.

Unless of course uh, well if its just that dang dark up there in Boston....But then also 'pollution' so I wouldn't trust anything from someone living so close to the North Pole on this!!

Cides I gotta play the game an don't have time for that.

I'm using this at the moment https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4568 which can make nights quite dark, however, I use this too https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7657 which just so happens to have an option in the misc section of the holotape to make nights brighter, up to x5 as bright as your current darkness, I know NAC isn't an ENB, but it really helps me see what the hell is going on at night

If I may make a suggestion,

I assume you are using the most recent, or nearly most recent release of ENB series?

If you press shift+return to open ENB while in game, you can scroll down to the Enviroment tab and then open it, and then look for the entry "Direct Lighting Night" - if you increase this you will make the direct light brighter but it will cause shadows to be darker. So then scroll down to "Ambient Lighting Night" and increase this a little bit at a time until you can see again in the shadowed areas. You'll probably be somewhere around 2:1 Direct Light to Ambient Light.

My personal setup for nights:

True Storms https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4472

True Nights (requires True Storms) https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9253

Night Time God Rays https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16265

Sublte ENB https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5885 - which I tweaked for my own taste

Then I set Direct Light Night to 6 and Ambient Light Night to 2 because I like it a little darker. So if you increase that ambient light number (or decrease the direct light number) it will get brighter. You just gotta play with it on your monitor.

In my settings, when the weather is clear, I can see the area around me, but not out into the distance because it gets darker farther away.
