Change NPC to non-vanilla race

I have searched and I am sure I have missed it. Pretty positive actually. I would like to change certain NPC's to a custom race, namely the Monli race (or a modified version from here on LL). I have figured out how to change NPC's to other vanilla races (although for some reason the dialogue does not work properly.....too fast visually to read and no sound), including changing their height, clothes, etc.

however when I try to make them a custom race I get an instant ctd when trying to load a game. Please tell me what I am doing wrong! Or point me in the direction of an instruction set aimed at very stupid girls. Either one would work! ;)

Thanks!

Please forgive me for my poor english, its my second language=p

I had that problem before and it thankfully was solved after hours of research and help from the modding community=)

Well first of all, you of course need the original race mod.

You should convert the customrace.esp of your desire into customrace.esm (simply change it from .esp to .esm in data -->then load it once in the CK so it will recognize it as .esm--> save it and you're set=))

You done that? Good XD

Now load that file in CK and DON'T set it as active, once its opened, duplicate an existing one or make an entirely new NPC, now you can customize your NPC at will, you should be able to give her a custom race. Place her somewhere in the world and finally SAVE her as a new .esp. Remember to load the new .esp as well as the .esm =)

All you need now is to find her ( or him lol )=)

Now you might be saying OMGWTF YOU NOOB!!! I found the NPC but stupid head discolouration, mastergundam you are useless!!!

Just in case that happens, here is

THE SOLUTION TO HEAD DISCOLOURATION:

All you need to do is change the new .esp into once again a .esm

Then repeat the procedure of opening it with CK, save it and close CK so it will be recognized as .esm

Following that, you open the new .esm in CK and DON'T set it as active.

After you opened that .esm, customize your NPC if you wish and save her as a .esp

DON'T quit CK yet!!! Now the final procedure... highlight your custom NPC in the actors list (don't need to edit it, just a single click) and press ctrl+f4

This will export the facegendata and now you can save it once more, and quit CK.

You should be enjoying a new NPC without head discolouration=)

P.S. Please comment on it if you find it useful (like saying a thank you or something XD, I love it when people owe me favours XD) But seriously, the head discolouration thing bugged me for weeks until I found this solution, so please comment and let people know of this solution(if it works for you of course, cuz shit happens and it may not work lol)
