Windows Exception causing CTD

INFO (00:53:33.0687): Windows Exception (c0000005). Origin: "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\TESV.exe" (57e23d). Last hooked call: void *__stdcall CreateFileW_rep(const wchar_t *,unsigned long,unsigned long,struct _SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES *,unsigned long,unsigned long,void *)

 

So I've been through the 2 major logs I'd expect to find the error in that explains what's just happened. The above is the last block from the Mod Organiser log taken minutes after my last CTD. 

 

Now the CTD in question didn't have the good old lets just hang on the loading screen for a few minutes and then decide to die a messy death - this was just a straight up closing of the window and ending the process.

Only thing I'm spotting as a potential issue is the 'Weak Flame Atronach' creature being unregistered (I'm running Perkus Maximus which does change a lot of things and spells, however the game didn't CTD earlier when another casting of that spell was active).

 

So any ideas? Do you need/want my load order/mod list to help solve this (I'm doubtful it's a load order/conflict problem though)?

The problem you reported seems NOT to be related to the game or Papyrus, but with a try to write a file that is not accessible.

 

Be sure the folder of your saves (Documents/Skyrim/) has full read/write permissions, and the same should happen for the SKSE folder inside the Skyrim/Data/ directory.

Hmm thanks. Had to do some Googling to add an extra bit to the security section of both folders. This might be one of those Win 8/8.1/10 things being really annoying.

 

I'll try it out again later and see what happens on the next time I crash if I get a similar log report to this. Thanks for the quick trouble-shooting.
