DareDemon666 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I've run into an issue recently whilst playing through the main quest-line. I am currently escorting Esbern out of the ratway, however when I attempt to leave the ragged flagon and enter the ratway the game CTDs after only a few seconds of loading. I put this down to mods, so I cleaned up all the ITMs and deleted references, etc, in tes5edit but the problem has not been solved. I can enter and exit every other location and old saves work fine, it is only leaving this specific area that I encounter the problem. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them, seeing as this issue is currently stopping me from progressing the game. Cheers, DareDemon666

Number 10) You removed ITM's that may have been a problem but these are already baked into the game as those ITM's were present before you cleaned your ESP/ESMs Number 9) You have not installed SKSE Memory Tweak or perhaps the Memory Tweak isn't even functioning properly coulda checked with Memory Block Log Number 8) You don't use ENB Boost Number 7) You installed a mod that made Changes to the Ratway, been to the Ratway, left the Ratway, and been back again without the mod installed. Number 6) You installed some crazy ass mod that made changes to the thieves guild, ratway or any number of potential actors or important references in the area but because it was alpha at best your Testing the mod right now for a new modder that didn't test it himself xD Good on you. Number 5) You edited an armor your character happened to be wearing in Nifskope and Failed bad/worse yet you forgot you did that (No shit this has happened lolz) Number 4) You have a series of mods that help the lighting, textures, and general stuff that would seem to not have an impact on the game whatsoever but ran critically short of FPS due to some off the wall chandelier that has really crummy light/shadow settings (of course Im not entirely sure if the chandelier from ELFX is actually in Riften Ratway hmm) Number 3) At the time that this incident happened you were bored and installed a bunch of possibly CtD inducing mods or perhaps the mods you installed just didn't mesh well with what was already under the hood.....Happens more than ppl like to think. Number 2) Your bad Skyrim.ini, skyrimpref.ini, and ebblocal tweaks you read about and added have finally caught up to you Number 1) Your Script system has suffered so many Stack Dumps that your save might possibly be borked. You have too many NPC adding mods combined with Scripted Mods that add special behaviors to NPC's in the game......Notice also that scripts that must activate on Cell Load also must be considered as being offenders when the issue is specific to Cell Loading as your case most certainly is.
DareDemon666 Posted January 2, 2016 Author Posted January 2, 2016 Thanks for the ideas! only 10 and 9 can be the potential cause so I'll look into them. What information would you need to know to be able to troubleshoot it?
Gameplayer Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Thanks for the ideas! only 10 and 9 can be the potential cause so I'll look into them. What information would you need to know to be able to troubleshoot it? Load Order Skyrim ini SkyrimPref.ini ENBlocal in a txt format is fine you can link them to your post. Some people will post pap logs but there are very few people that could read them and even then not a good way to determine a crash. SKSE log even rarer to find a person that can read or take the time to even read it...Mostly those guys are helping someone build the next big mod...So really unlikely. Save Cleaner might be the best next step to try to solve this.
Gameplayer Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 You could try to remove a specific Mod from your SaveGame.
DareDemon666 Posted January 2, 2016 Author Posted January 2, 2016 Here are the requested things. I don't use an ENB so no ENBlocal. Load order.txtSkyrim(.ini).txtSkyrimPrefs(.ini).txt Also used save cleaner to clear up orphan script instances, etc. No change however, game still CTD's on the load-screen.
Gameplayer Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 http://loot.github.io/ Get Loot Install it and make it sort your load order. I see that you don't have the Unofficial Patch for Skyrim.ESM You want to download that install it. Try loading up before you do the quest to get Esbern out of the Ratway and see how it goes. ___ Your Ini's are fine. Don't recognize all your mods of course but you should have been fine >< so derp IDK. I don't think running without a merge or bash patch could have caused your crash.
DareDemon666 Posted January 2, 2016 Author Posted January 2, 2016 I've got loot, used it to make the load order .txt. I'll give her a playthrough from the start of the quest and see if she chooches. Cheers!
DareDemon666 Posted January 2, 2016 Author Posted January 2, 2016 So I've just replayed that quest after doing everything you suggested and this time it worked. Doesn't look like I'll need any more help, thanks!
