Fallout 4 for Dummies

Thought this might be a good topic to get dummy's questions answered.  This dummy, for one.

 

For instance, I made a save just after I created my character and left the vault.  I would have thought that I'd be able to use that save and have a pre-built character for a new game. But no...  My character now had jet black hair, (was blonde) and face type 1 (was type 13).  Still had the scar from the 'extras' though.  No idea about the nose, I really am not an expert on noses...  Nor the slightly sculpted cheeks, but since they were done on face type 13, I think that detail was gone.  And this was with exactly the same mods.

 

I had a mod I wanted to use, Cait Makeover, had several optionals, some of which I used - Valkyr female face and body (as well as the CBBE patch), Vivid Hair Colors, Oni Hair Retexture, and deluxe Lip Liner Mask.  In-game, Cait had a face that looked very like Skyrim's grey face bug.  Not the black bug, mind.  All the textures were there, just very dark brown.  Tried SLM, no good.  Tried uninstalling the .esp, no good.  Tried uninstalling all of the mods, (and re-installing what bits were over-written) no good.  Went back several saves before I made the adds (which were now gone) and still the same brown face.  WTF????? 

(OK, I learned from Caliente that I should have just used the Valkyr face bits, but that doesn't explain anything about the brown face bug...  That no one else has ever seen BTW.  Well, one other has.)

 

It has been mentioned that Loot would work for Fallout 4, but I cannot get it to function....

 

Anyone have any answers?  More questions?

You can count me as third among you and that one other! I'm having Piper with a brown face, and random raiders 

It doesn't matter if I get rid of any texture mods, try Better Female Followers to separate them (with CBBE) from default player textures..

I'm still getting this stupid annoying bug!

 

If I try to change my character's eyes in showlooksmenu, she too takes on the brown face bug 

I'm using CBBE and the Fair Skin Complexion conversion originally by HHaley, but this brown face stuff happens with every skin texture mod.

 

I can't get LOOT to work either because it halts with an error message, but this is a texture issue.

People that suggest "LOOT LOL" really need to tone it down.
