Meddlesom Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I recently installed devious devices assets and integration, deviously enslaved continued, deviously helpless, and cursed loot. I'm pretty sure this problem that has popped up is due to one of them, and it sort of makes sense if it is. So here's what happened... while trekking back to civilization in full bondage gear, because some asshole merchant decided i needed to do that, I went to check to see what the automove key was bound to. When I opened up the control options, it was visible and I went to bind it to something better. Well... as soon as I clicked to change it, it removed automove completely from list of controls. Now whenever I do something like struggle in an arm binder the game just turns on automove by itself but in various speeds from slow motion to normal walking speed. Sometimes it even does this stutter step thing where it sort of bounces me up and down and rapidly plays the footstep sound effect. What's more, when I go into free camera mode, the camera moves forward on its own as if that were also being controlled by automove. There are plenty of circumstances where the game itself will do something that starts the automove too. I have deactivated every single mod i've got and started a new game, but whatever caused this has removed automove from the controls options entirely. I don't know what the key is currently bound to and the only thing I can do to stop my character from automoving, once it starts, is to completely exit and restart skyrim. Simply loading a previous save doesn't work, it persists until the game is shut down. So, is the bondage so hardcore that even automove is off limits to the point where one of these mods would actually remove it from game's options and never let me use it again? I seriously have no idea what the fuck is going on, I can't find any other information on anyone having this automove problem. The mods were working just fine until I went hunting for that key in the options too, but now the game is pretty much unplayable since I'm constantly having to restart the game every few minutes. Anyhow, I've tried everything I can think of to fix it short of reinstalling the game and every mod, and that's the last resort of course. Any ideas from you would be appreciated.
shane4244 Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Couple things you can try: Number one If your using a game pad disconnect it first. Number 2 on a new game without the mods enabled that you felt was the conflict try hitting "T" to default the controls (I don't see that bringing it back but maybe won't hurt to try) Number 3 I think the controls are stored in the skyrim directory in "ControlMap_Custom.txt" if you have a program that can edit it you can try that or delete it and start the game with steam to see if it generates a new one otherwise you'll have to verify via steam to get it back. That's about all I can think of I'm not seeing any keybindings in the control section of any of the skyrim INI''s so I believe the ControlMap_Custom.txt" would be your best bet short of deleting everything and starting over.
Meddlesom Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 Well, what it came down to was completely rebuilding the controlmap.txt using third party software, the skyrim key helper. The actual control configuration part of the in game options are now so horribly broken by whatever caused this that attempting to change a key through it now actually shifts every single control below it in the list to the one below that and it instantly hoses the entire control scheme. I've never seen anything like this... but now I've got the file set to read only so hopefully skyrim won't be able to just go fucking up its own file now.
