CTDing on a new game and shortly after everything loads up

I came back to Skyrim after a long hiatus, updated a bunch of mods along with FNIS and MO, and am now facing a weird CTD at launch. Weird because it shouldn't be happening at all and it doesn't seem to be consistent.

 

Whenever I try to start a new game with ANY mod that skips the carriage scene (i.e. Alternate Start - LAL, Skyrim Unbound, etc.), the game CTDs. Then, I try reinstalling these mods just to see what happens, and the the CTD goes away from one 'New Game'. As soon as I quit the game, reboot it and try to start a new game with ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGES in my load order or anything related to Skyrim at all, it CTDs. And it's not even consistent, either; sometimes I'll reinstall it multiple times and it'll still CTD. The other issue is that the few times that I manage to go through, finish making my character etc., the game CTDs shortly after I exit the character creation menu.

 

The weird part is that if I've tried to play the game with no Alternate Start mods and the carriage scene plays just fine. Every mod finishes loading up just fine and no CTD. Granted I haven't tried to actually let it finish and get to the character creation menu, I don't think it would CTD, because it seems to CTD when it's loading a random mod.

 

First I need to solve the CTD on a new game, then if I ever get through that and it keeps CTDing I'll either update this thread or post another thread.

 

EDIT: I have also already cleaned the DLCs, ran LOOT and ran TES5Edit.

Try not using Sexlab Cumshot in a new game. That mod was causing me a lot of crashes so I removed it and that was fixed. No crashes after some hours of play, before I was getting one every 5-10 min more or less.

-Has a growing list of incompatibilities that is getting quite lengthy.

Also, already checked IC's incompatibility list. I don't have any of those incompatible mods installed.

Runs a major script upon character completion

 

If your game is attempting to set up quite a few mods at that time, I would expect that a CtD would actually be a possibility.

 

Have you thought about that?

 

Its not uncommon to have to gradually feed the load order with mods you'd like to use due to having too much sudden start up demands.

Quite a few popular mod authors have been quite upfront about how OCD they can be about setting up a new game gradually.

 

You've a few other mods that will set up upon character completion

How sure are you that Immersive Citizens is compatible with Devious Devices Captured Dreams Workshops, "Delivory Quests"?

How compatible is Devious Cidnea with IC?

 

How compatible are Sexlab Mods in general with IC?

-->That's not something that compatibility page will ever give testimony too.

 

The warning given is that IC makes drastic changes to Whiterun, and a few other places...The NPC behavior is also drastically changed and that doesn't just mean their AI but also where those commonly altered NPC's are expected to be in the game...

 

Altering the common NPC's has had drawbacks for Sexlab Mod compatibility with Paradise Halls, which often goes ignored and results in Players asking why their game is unstable....Countless times.

Deviously Helpless might not function as well as people would like it too since Sexlab updated to 1.6

 

You've a lot of mods that are meant for making the player character feel more life like but that comes at a constant cost of more stress on the Pap Engine........Maybe Sexlab Mods are not the best choice for Sex, there is an alternative offered on Nexus for Sex called 0S3XSKY which is actually really good, although pretty involved...

 

Point being your running Arroused, DCL, PSQ, DAYMOL, RND, Frostfall, SPERG, Campfire, IC, RS, ADW, More Nasty Critters, Privite Needs, Bathing, Wearable Lanterns (yes this is always running),  CH (always running), Footprints (even though it has a light footprint) , Player Head Tracking ( hello scripts detection constant ) ,

 

So lets think about this....All of those mods need active script time all the time.......

 

Hmm why is your game crashing...

 

I know this makes me look like an asshole know it all.....I get people will run in here and claim they have it running or a selection of this stuff running...And they likely wont give pointers on how to get it running and just basically lead people on that it might be possible to get everything running....

 

Well you have a lot your trying to run all at the same time.

 

So consider what you really want.

 

I for one find the idea of playing a succubus that has to eat cum, food, drink, bath, stay warm, and shit a bit much due to the near constant amount of management that represents.

 

Would probably be a good start to decide that the only thing your Succubus Player Character has to eat is CUM...That cuts out a lot of constant script mods right there.  Doesn't make since to me that my Daedric Succuby is going to die in the cold or need food for example when all she needs is to eat more cum.

 

Your going to have to decide what is important to the Play Through and make cuts on stuff that...

 

Now lets think about this, can a Daedra see in the dark?

Sure they can...

So whats the point of Lanterns?

Or for that matter very dark nights?

Or for that matter any amount of cheesy overly dark areas?

 

Your character can see in the dark so really there is no real since in having to use a fancy Filter or Script to handle mods that enforce darkness situations.

 

Next Thought,

Why does a Succubus need Convinent Horses?

Shouldn't a Daedra be able to summon a horse bitch where ever she is?

For that matter a PSQ succubus can actually run faster than a horse anyway...

Maybe dropping CH is a good idea.

Is this mod going to shut down Kimy's Deviously Cursed Loot

DCL is extremely predudice against children...It will shut itself down if any mod makes a change to a child actor or the main child reference.

 

That would cut down on scripts running and mad adjustments to image filters blah blah VRAM overhead.

CTD @ launch what i suggest is running your load order thro TES5Edit it will error if things are out of place not sure but those race mods and race compatibility look out of place (but not sure as i don't use races anymore)

 

 

 

 

Why are you using the old Unofficial patch if you have mods that need that are you sure there even for the current version of skyrim and skse. I would suggest starting from scratch.

Why a few simple .ini edits and bash pack tweaks will cover this without the need for a mod

realistic needs and diseases i think ineed is better 1 plug instead of 5+ 

 

and all those leather backpack plugins you could remove brawls bug patch and get campfire and save yourself 4 esp slots

and with complete crafting overhaul you can load a few mods like bandoliers without needing the esp active.

 

aggressive prostitution and radiant 

 

duel combat realism heavy script load during combat ... i suggest a ai overhaul instead like revenge of the enemies and animal tweaks (AT may conflict with a few mods on your list - not sure as i do not use them)

 

i also think your skeleton mod is way too low if your using MO move it up at least under realistic ragdoll force, and see if anything conflicts with it there (you have allot of mods that are looking for that skeleton) i personally had to hide a few skeletons from mods like better vampires to avoid conflicts.

All of this typing could've been avoided if you read the OP. I said I updated a bunch of mods, which means that I already had all of these and used to play with them regularly without any issues. I also said that all mods finish loading normally if I don't use any Alternate Start mods.

 

I do understand quite a bit about modding. This isn't my first time. You're right about one thing, though; I need to trim it.

 

EDIT: And by that I mean, I need to make seperate profiles. I start new saves all the time with new playthrough ideas and forget that these mods are still active and running on the background.  :blush:

No one knows if your mods list is active, partitailly active, or not active.

 

Installed to the DATA folder or using Mod Organizer.

 

We can only go by what you gave us which was a list of mods.

 

So I come off as an asshole trying to do my best giving an answer based on what I'm presented

Like I said, it only CTDs at launch as soon as I activate a mod that attempts to skip the carriage scene for roleplying purposes, i.e. Alternate Start. The second CTDing issue (the one where it CTDs about 20 or so seconds after I manage to create my character), I'll have to figure it out later. I have also run TES5Edit as stated in the original post.

 

I have no idea what you were trying to say with the second sentence. I assume you're asking if I'm sure I have the latest versions of both SKSE and Skyrim; if so, yes, I do.

 

I'll consider switching to iNeed but since I'm fairly sure that has nothing to do with my issue since I used to play with the same version I have now, I'll skip it for now.

 

I think Aggressive and Radiant Prostitution do different things, but I might be mistaken. I'll check out the respective support pages later.

 

I was told Revenge of the Enemies sucked because it made enemies do silly things like instantly sidestep (much like teleporting) while in-combat. I might check it out later, though.

 

I assure you my Skeleton (XPMSE) has nothing to do with the issues at hand considering I was having the exact same CTDing problems while using the old, now outdated XPMS. I actually updated to XPMSE because I figured that was the issue.

Oh, I see. Well, like I said, I don't think it's an outdated mod that's causing my issue, as I was playing with these exact same mods a couple of weeks ago. I simply updated a few, along with FNIS and SKSE, and then the CTDing started. So it's more likely two conflicting mods or one updated mod that's malfunctioning. The thing is, it doesn't make any sense that the game boots up normally without Alternate Start/Skyrim Unbound/Random Alternate Start, etc. I managed to boot it normally early today with Alternate Start installed but only once. Without changing anything in my load order, it simply refused to start a new game without CTDing as soon as it finishes loading.

 

EDIT: I was going to update my Unofficial Patches to the new one that's a single .esp, but I remember that one of my mods relies on the old patches. I don't remember which. Or something like that. I could be wrong, so I'll try updating it as well.

 

I made sure to remove my old skeleton before updating to XPMSE. I also installed it after everything else, as suggested in the mod page. So you're saying the skeleton has to be above realistic force? I ran LOOT and manually moved some clothing mods around. This is pretty much what LOOT gave me. I'll try moving it above it and report back.

Alright. Some updates.

 

I *SEEM* to have solved the CTD at start problem. I've tried to start a new game three times in a row and it works normally, so I consider that as solved. I uninstalled a couple of mods, updated a few (including the Unofficial Patches).

 

Now all I have to solve is the "game CTDs about 10 or 15 seconds after I exit the character creation menu". My female character's body is normal (no stretched to infinity breasts, no missing textures, etc.), so I don't think the skeleton is the issue. I have attached a new Papyrus Log below.

Unrelated to my problem (I think), but when I try to load the save I make shortly after exiting the character creation menu on PDTWrapper, it says "Name cannot begin with the ',' character, hexadecimal value 0x2C. Line 999841, position 72", even though I name my character standard names, and even named this one "test" just to see what happened.

PSQ is a standalone Succubus mod.

RaceCompatibility is from ECE

RCOTS is a cosmetic mod for children

CME is from ECE too I think

USKP Patcher was uninstalled since I uninstalled the individual patches and installed the Skyrim Unofficial Patch Legendary mod

 

Also these last three can't be issue (and shouldn't be harmful anyway) because I haven't touched them since before I took a break. AFAIK what they do is add new options for SOS. I dunno if you're only supposed to turn one of them

 

Also, about the thread you linked, how do I do that if I'm MO? Should I just create a SKSE/skse.ini even if I installed SKSE with MO?

 

EDIT: I just read the thread you linked, it doesn't seem to be that useful in my case unless someone can read my log...

yes you create skse.ini if you don't have one ... that could have been your entire problem

Nevermind, I'm silly. I forgot about Windows' CTRL+F function. lol

 

Anyway, I found skse.ini.

 

All it says is:

I have finally fixed my problem by simple trial-and-error.

 

The mod that was causing my issue was IC (Immersive Citizens). I have absolutely no idea why since I used to play with the exact same version before I took break, but ever since I disabled and uninstalled it, the CTDing 10~15 seconds after exiting the character creation menu simply went away.
