Hi

So basically what I'm trying to do is this:

My body is from the mod Summer Wear, its CBBE Body Slim. This works good and I don't want to change it. I've managed to locate the NIF of it, its in meshes>actors>character>alt body.

There are 3 nifs, femalebody_CBBEslim_0, femalebody_CBBEslim_1, and femalebody_CBBEslim_1.go.

This body item kind of acts like a base body. I can put things over it like panties, socks etc. However when I do, I get clipping issues, like the file attached. Im trying to make it so the socks cover the whole legs. Ive been reading up on the tutorial and cant really grasp it fully, i think I understand it a bit.

When I go to new project, I opened the slider as femalebody_CBBEslim_0.nif. Then when clicking next I load the nif from the Osare Kneesocks, this being Socks_0.nif (there are 3 however, 0.nif, 1.nif and SocksGND.nif. I opened 0.)

What came up was BaseShape, baseShape_outfit, and Socks under the meshes tab. On the preview screen it seemed that BaseShape and BaseShape outfit were inside of eachother and it kind of looked like 2 body stacked near eachother, but I did'nt worry about it. So I clicked Socks under meshes, and used the 'increase mesh volume in an area' to cover the socks over the skin.

I then did as the guide says, duplicated the shape, and exported the nif and overwrited for the socks nif.

However when I went in game nothing changed. the same clipping occured in the same areas. So i've got a few questions.

1. How do I know which nif file to use when opening a project, as i said before there were 3 cbbeslim nifs, one ending in 0, one in 1, and one in 1_go. And the same with the socks. There was socks_0, socks_1 and socksGND. Which one do I open?

2. What am I doing wrong and how do I do it right. That'd be greatly appreciated.

I posted this in the pinned thread but it seems to be very inactive, with the last post being about 5 days ago. Sorry if it's spam.

Thanks

The three files you're seeing are the zero weight mesh (ending in 0) the max weight mesh (ending in 1) and the ground object mesh (ending in go/GND.) You don't need to do anything with the go.nif. That only appears in menus or if you drop the item in the game world. The _0 and _1 meshes are the ones you need to edit, and you need to do both.

If your character has zero weight she will wear the _0 mesh. If she has max weight she will wear the _1 mesh. If she's somewhere in between, the two meshes will be referenced to produce one that matches her body. So you'll need to make sure the _0 outfit mesh matches the _0 body mesh you're using as closely as possible, and the same for the two _1 meshes.

Probably not explained very well, but try this: Load your _0 body mesh as a reference, then your _0 socks mesh as the outfit. Use the brushes to adjust the socks so they look like they fit nicely to the leg and then export the nif (without reference) and overwrite the one you adjusted. (Make backups first.) Then do the same with the _1 nifs.

Really, this is basic conversion and covered in the numerous tutorials, possibly the easiest one to fathom is on the front page of the nexus download page for bodyslide/outfitstudio. Good luck.

The anything to anything one is a good place to start. Is there no cbbe version of this outfit anywhere? If there is you can just use bodyslide to build it into the shape you're using?

There's some basic learning curve to doing conversions, you must learn a few things like what the files are and what they do as Dreamweaver started to explain. One thing which will make starting out easier is to find cbbe versions of the outfit, that way you can use the cbbbetoanything reference and "almost" seamlessly get the shape you're looking for.

Hi, thanks for the help, I tried what you did and didn't see a difference.

This is what I did:

Opened cbbe_slim0 in the first section, then socks_0.

3 meshes came up, baseshape, baseshape outfit and socks, I clicked socks, covered them over the legs.

I exported without reference and replaced socks_0.

I did the same for the nif 1's.

I tried setting my weight 100 to 0, its the same.

Did i do something wrong?

Thanks for helping

It's hard to know what you might have done wrong, if anything. (And my explanation probably wasn't the best!) It can get a bit fiddly, especially if the outfit you're editing has more than one branch to the nif, which it sounds like these socks do. I've never used them myself so I'm not sure what they're supposed to look like.

You're probably best off following the tutorials dTd suggested. The manual tweaking is best for tidying up smaller details. If there's a lot to do letting Outfit Studio itself do the heavy lifting is a better idea.
