Changing Hair on Interesting NPCs

So I love the interesting NPC mod but I absolutely hate the standard hairs that are used.  So I opened up tes5edit, made apachii hair a master to the 3DNPC.esp and proceeded to add/change the hair of several NPCs.  The problem is that the hair changes just fine but the skin color of the face no longer matches the body.   Any steps on how to fix this?  Would I have to use the creation kit (which I have no idea how to use as I am still a noob).
