A better way to merge multiple NPC .esp?

I've searched for tutorials about merging esps but none of them are clear about merging characters, there's this one: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/517845-tut-merging-esps-and-overhauling-npcs/

But it doesn't work for me since NPCs edited in Skyrim NPC Editor have sub categories when you open them in tesvsnip... How do I go about merging those?

 

If there's another way and an easier way to do this please show me how :]

I would like to know this as well. I love the editor, but have 32 (16 esp + 16 bsa) tiny mods cluttering up my data folder is a bit much.
