Current grey face issue with Sidearmf93 NPC overhaul

I'm using this author's NPC overhaul, and I'm getting grey face with Vex because of it. I read on another thread a user that figured it out, but have yet to get him to explain the fix precisely. So far, all I understand is that the author changed Vex's race to Nord for whatever reason, when she should be Imperial and that apparently is why I'm having the issue. This is what I was told:

"you need tesedit and nifkope for that
if a npc is in the save, it will overwrite whatever npc installer you install, and this create conflicts if the nif was edited

vex is an imperial in vanilla
imperials load femaleheadimperial
with npc85 it became femaleheadnorth in the nif

you just rename that, and the hairs, eyes... everything to match what the save is looking for"

I don't understand that last bit. If I start a new game there obviously isn't a save for me to match up with. Also, I'm starting to wonder if there is another issue going on here as well. When I load up the mod in tesedit, the ID for Vex doesn't show up under the mod, only for vanilla skyrim.

Here are some screens to get an idea of where I'm at/looking at

i use this mod too and don't have this problem with vex, and she is in my tes5edit as well. could be a install or load order problem.

I guess I will try to get the original download it came with. Maybe something happened when I merged all NPC 54, 70, and 85 together.
