samantha1990 Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 k, i'm having an issue. everything was working fine, and i started the dragon born quest. slayed the dragon at whiterun and, when i went to go back inside dragonsreach, my game crashed. now every save i try to load, even ones from before i started that part, crashes to desktop. my papyrus is attached. hopefully this is an easy fix, and someone can tell the mod idiot why her game's all jacked now, when everything was working totally fine before i talked to irileth after i killed the dragon and absorbed it, then walked back to whiterun, and into the door at dragonsreach. then ctd. i can't even load saves from HOURS ago. everything goes ctd. please help thanks Papyrus.0.log

Hell... sure that your save file is broken All save file not work? You have messy Load order + messy Skyrim
Guest Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Dragonsreach is known as one of the most buggiest (quest) place in Skyrim. I had CTDing recently when trying to save my game after exiting Dragonsreach. Although I didn't have any mod the modified Whiterun or/and Dragonsreach, nothing helped me to avoid CTDing. I even load some earlier saves, cleaned my saves with save tool cleaner, had the latest USKPs patches, started the game from the beginning (after Helgen) ... but, I was just wasting my time and energy. Some experts says that "Alternative life" mod is most common source of CTDing. Since you didn't post your mod list I can't say that it is your problem too. So, at the end, I found out that the main problem for my CTDing laid in USKP Heartfire patch. After I reinstall it, I didn't have any more CTDs. If this doesn't help you, I didn't find any other solution on the net but start a new game since it looks like that Vanilla dragon quest wasn't loaded properly from the beginning. Well, I just shared my experience with you, but I'm not a lumen in this. probably someone else with more experience might help you with this.

Guest Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 i AM using both hearthfire AND alternative life. i've just never had a problem THIS bad before. should i deactivate/reactivate hearthfire? You should use save cleaner toolfirst. It might help you to resolve your problem. It didn't helped me in this case. If you have USKP 2.1.3 Heartfire patch, you should reinstall it. If using NMM, uninstall the mod first, exit NMM, start NMM again and install the patch. Then run LOOT 8.0 to set proper order of your mods. If you have USKP 2.1.2 version, do not upgrade it to 2.1.3 since it's buggy. If your game still doesn't work after cleaning your save(s), reinstalling the USKP, try to disable AL and load some earlier save and then your latest. If this works, you found your source of the problem.

Ky Kiske Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Skyrim likes to crash and it can crash for several reasons but if you are crashing because of loading your game which is quite common try this, before loading your game at the main menu open your console, you open it with the key to the left of your 1 key, then the console will pop up now type in it "coc qasmoke" without the " and hit enter, you will appear in a small cell area after that you should be able to load your save file fine, the game doesn't like to load for the first time in big/bigger areas and thus ctds, also safety load may help.

samantha1990 Posted August 31, 2015 Author Posted August 31, 2015 If safety load solved your problem, you dont have the skse memory patch correctly set up. You need to do that. Check sacremas guide to modding here on LL. sorry, just now saw this response. i'll go check that now. hopefully it will fix my other ctd's. usually, it just does it and i can restart the game. but to be able to eliminate or even reduce the frequency of ctd's would be awesome. thanks!
