Guest Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Hi guys, So I have been navmeshing some stuff and until now I have just been editing some existing vanilla spaces or at least very flat surfaces so it has been quite easy to navmesh. But I made a huge area basically from scratch. The place I made is a cavern with many, many, many... did I say many? clutter crap everywhere and because of this the auto generated Navmesh looks like a broken glass So are there any tips in generating this Navmesh cleanly and also I can move the Navmesh horizontally but not vertically. I know that the less triangles the better and for the navmesh to work it all has to be connected. So considering this issue where there are hundreds upon hundreds of small triangles in varying heights on the same surface what must I do short of deleting all my clutter to making a proper Navmesh? Thanks
Guest Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 To navmeshing interiors I usually start by drawing a set of points around the borders. Then I create triangles by selecting two consecutive point and on opposite point. And I will continue until the full area is navmeshed. I also disable the grid clipping while navmeshing to have maximum control. And, for all points, remember to select them and click on F to have them close to the actual surface. If you have thin spots, check the navmesh with an actor to find if the area is accessible.
