DupaStupid Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 For skyrim, which one is the bottleneck? 3570k @ 4.4ghz or gtx 970sc?
Guest Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Skyrim uses not too much graphic card power. (Old unoptimized DirectX 9 application.) A GTX 970 is way more than it is requested by the game. (I use an old 960 and I go steady 60FPS.) If you use ENB then the graphic card can be stressed a little bit more. If you go insane (3000x2000 + AA 16 + IF 16 + ENB max levels) then probably a Quadro will not be enough... Skyrim uses a lot of CPU power, and sadly it is not really multi-thread. But any third-last generation CPUs are enough for it (a better one will just not to be used.) I saw a huge difference in performance when I updated my memory (RAM) to a more fast one.
DupaStupid Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 Besides the random dip in fps. I hold a solid 60fps with all enb settings on. I'm not sure how to get AA or SMAA to work since the directions I followed said this is all handled by enb.
Guest Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 AA is directly handled by the game engine. ENB adds a lot on light and shaders. But the real problem is that with the two pieces you mentioned you are already over what the game can do. If it scatters sometimes, then it is because of the game limitations (or, another possibility, a heavy mod not really well developed.)

Right now im in the helgen fort, entered with the blonde haired guy. Have the game saved with the first 2 guards dead to test out cbbe+hdt and textures. I Finally have it working with breast and butt collision. I'm not even sure if enb is running all the settings. Reason I think it isn't is I have no stutter, lag, and a solid 60fps. This is on a 970sc card. I had stuttering and fps issues on my sli 660sc 2gb cards.
Guest Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 660 is a really old one, two generations far as chipset. 960, 970, and 980 all have the same generation of chipset (different versions and revisions, but pretty much the same architecture.)

Yeah, I guess benchmarks don't tell the whole story. Could be helping that I am on windows 10 64bit and have dx12 installed?
Guest Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Skyrim does not use DX 10, 11, or 12. It is a DX9 application. Win10 is just fine for Skyrim, but it is more or less like 7 or 8, or 8.1 for it.

Guest Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 There are a couple of weeks that I am using Win10, and I really like it.

Of course the new internet explorer, 'edge,' sucks. Well it mainly sucks because it has issues with forums I visit. Like not being able to type in the reply section, ect. Also had a lot of issues with trying to use 3rd party AV and firewall. For now i'm using window's built in security.
