Kittensmasher Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Ok, so decided to hop on Photoshop and learn how to do custom textures in skyrim for my own personal benefit (so i know what to do when Fallout 4 comes out). So first off what i am using is: CS6 Photoshop 64bit Nvidia DDS Plugin The machine im working on is: AMD 8 core 9590FX AMD R9 290X 4GB Video Card <--- all drivers up to date 16 GB RAM Windows 7 (currently afraid of windows 10) So when i create my texture Now i took the Chameleon Female Argonian Diffuse Map from MONSTERaider on the Nexus and overlayed the Scales on the SG Renewal Diffuse Map. So i Flattened the Layer Hierarchy (after i saved the raw unflattened psd) and go to save as to a DDS (originally using DXT5) i get in the mipmap 2D texture preview and when i load up nifskope with the compatable body mesh and load the texture into the correct position on the BSShaderTexture branch i get Now i havent touched the settings of the DDS Plugin when Saving when i first installed the plugin. Since i am saving it as DXT5 i do have an alpha channel that is all white as i have noticed with other DXT5 compressed Diffused Maps. I have scoured the internet about this issue for hours and i cant find an answer. I am just retarded, and just genetically predispositioned to not be able do make custom textures in skyrim. If anyone has any insight into what to do, can you please let me know. I am totally lost as to what to do and all the tutorials i find on creating custom textures always leads to this problem. Vioxsis Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 What are the dimensions of the texture? (2048x2048? 4096x4096?) And you can save it as DXT 1 if your not making use of the alpha. And what are your texture paths you set up in nifskope? and in the folder? Also its worth bearing in mind that skin textures need to be part of an assigned texture set to work in game (with all the shaders working properly)

Also its worth bearing in mind that skin textures need to be part of an assigned texture set to work in game (with all the shaders working properly) Right now both of the textures im overlaying on top of one another is 2048x2048 as the msm, sk and s are also 2k textures. To test the textures im using the Feminine Argonian Retexture mod i got from the scales (just saving over the original diffuse map with the original saved as a .bak file so i dont lose it). So the texture is already set up as part of a texture set from that mod. However right after i posted this i was able to fix the issue. When installed DDS plugin, for some strange reason it was normalizing the texture into a normal map and saving it as a normal map to begin with (this may have to do with me messing around learning how to normal map from a while ago in the filters menu on photoshop). So when i changed the it back to a color map in the image properites. I was getting that wierd mip maps. I restarted Photoshop, uploaded my psd file and and resaved the texture now with the saved settings and now it works. So well good ol fashion "Did you turn it off then on again" pretty much did the trick Thank you though for the reply
