gtcard Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Hey all I'm have a problem I've had for some time, and it comes and goes which makes it hard to troubleshoot. The problem is for some reason, sometimes armor pieces just disappear from the character, despite being still worn. While I had difficulty reproducing this problem before, I've just recently found a way to reproduce it reliably, so hoping someone with some idea of what's going on can help point me in the right direction as far as narrowing down what's causing this problem. The armor mod in question is Aradia's Kato Outfit UNP. The problem is when I equip the bra piece first, the skirt doesn't show up. I don't know why, but this happens every time the bra pieces is equipped before the skirt. Taking the skirt off and putting it back on doesn't make it show up either. The only thing that works is if the bra is removed, the skirt piece put on, then the bra piece is put on afterwards. This is the only way I can get the full armor set to display properly. As you can imagine, with SL Framework remove and reequiping armor all the time, this becomes an issue, because constantly I end up with the skirt properly re-equipped, but not visible because the bra was put on first. This happens a lot with armor pieces that use slot 52 (it's the common panty mod slot). It has always been hit or miss mixing different styled underwear with different armor because of this problem. The weirdest part is sometimes when I load from a save, the problem goes away. Like if I wore the same outfit on my save, and it showed up properly when I saved, the problem may or may not be present when I load this save. Half the time I load into the game with the skirt gone, the other half the skirt shows up just fine. I always suspected it's some compatibility issues with the body mesh included with most chest armors, but in this case, this is a full set of armor made by the same modder, so I should think the pieces will play nice with each other. Anyone have any idea what may be going on?
GSBmodders Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 I had this problem with an armor i liked, in my case it turned out that the textures were overly large, once i resized and compressed them the problem went away. the issue could be the same for you depending on how much vram your grahics card has or it could be something preventing certian armors from appearing oif a specific slot is used
gtcard Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 I don't think it's a texture size problem in this case, because I discovered something even more weird. I've determined this is an issue with gear which uses slot 52, which is typically most outfits' panty slot, if it is a loose item. In this case, the skirt from Aradia's Kato outfit also uses slot 52, and has panties built into the mesh. Now here is where it gets interesting: I think whenever my game loads a save, it loads my body in 1 of 2 States. Let's say the skirt from Aradia's Kato outfit and the panties from Osare panty mod are in Group 1. The Black Panty from NPR's Lingerie Set for UNP BBP is in Group 2. All of these items use slot 52. Now if I load up my game, my body seems to be loaded either in State 1 or State 2. If it is in State 1, then all of Osare's panties, and the skirt from Kato outfit show up just fine, regardless of whether or not the Bra item from Kato's outfit is being worn. However, the Black Panty from NPR's Lingerie mod will not show. If the game loads into State 2, then none of Osare's panties or the skirt from Kato's outfit will show. However, when it's in this state, the Black Panty from NPR's Lingerie Set will show up just fine. I don't know how else to better describe what is going on, but this is really bugging me because all of these items use the same slot, but while the trigger for the cause of the problem is seemingly random, the effect is absolutely identical in every case. I'm always able to get one set of items to show up, or the other, but never both.
GSBmodders Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 well then it is likely a mod, first check your current mod configurations in mcm. your going to want to look and be sure that you are not using anything else in that slot such as sos or what not. after that if you do not stumble across anything begin removing mods from your data folder. Simply deactivating some mods will not cut it as many can still interfere even when they are ticked off. I do remember a NPC mod I used once caused this issue too i forget which it was but that is something you should keep in mind as well that seeminly unrelated mods could also be the root of your troubles
gtcard Posted August 16, 2015 Author Posted August 16, 2015 I'm about to migrate to MO from NMM and hopefully I'll figure this out once I can cleanly deactivate mods one by one. It's just incredibly weird how this would happen with armor from the same set. So yeah, I think you're right; it may be some obscure mod conflict because I cannot imagine why an author would release a mod if this is a common problem, which I'm sure they would have ran into given how easily reproducible it is.
