Vivi Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Not sure if it's working as intended but vampirism kinda doesn't work with custom races? Well tried with dark races and judel, my char gets infected fine, turns into a vampire after 3+ days fine, but i can't feed on any sleeping npcs? The menu doesn't pops up my only option is pickpocketing (when sneaking) and talk (when standing). Changed my char to a vanilla nord just before she turned to a vamp and the feeding worked, so it's not an issue with the game but the custom stuff. I have seen some reports with the same issue in the dark races comments on the nexus, but i thought i better ask if you guys know anything about this? (I didn't see any thread about this yet but let me know if i missed it.)
Firedoom Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 The big problem with custom races and Vampires explained: All vanilla races in Skyrim have a Vampire version of their race included in the game. When you become a Vampire a script changes your race to yourraceVampire, and with "Vampire" in your race name another script allows you to pick the option "Feed". In order for a custom race to truly become a Vampire, the modder who made that race must make a second race (a copy of their custom race) that has "Vampire" in it's name. For example, "judalVampire". They would also have to add appropriate vampire powers to the race, like nightsight. That way the game can make it a vampire and allow it to feed. Also, if you are using a Vampire mod of ANY kind, then solutions may get a whole hell of a lot more complicated... Suffice to say, if you end up having a custom race related problem with a vampire mod (knowing that the custom race you are using already supports a Vampire version of itself), then I have no idea what to tell you at that point. You would most likely have to figure out for yourself how to change some scripts to account for your custom race. An example of a mod that would cause this issue is Vampire maintain previous appearance after feeding fully com.

Yeh well, i edited dark races and added Vampire keyword to the BellaVampire race, at least now my char can feed on sleeping npcs. Also tried with the Custom Races mod which does have separate vampire races for each race but still had the original issue, anyways i guess i am going to stick with vanilla races if i want to roll a vamp >.<
