Easy FPS droprate fix for beginners.

im not sure if this can be relevant for hardcore moders but it might be very helpful for everyone who just started using mods in skyrim, first time, like me.

its common knowledge but i had to discover it by myself since i havent found any solution anywhere else.

 

So, if you have good gaming PC have bunch of mods and you encounter enormous drop rates like 10-20 fps for no reason, it must be something wrong:

in your priority list: some mod replaces another one that shouldnt (especially outdated files replaces recent ones) plugin list order might be wrong (use loot to manage it).

But its not the cause i want to tell, what if you have everything perfect in mod organizer cleaned with tes5 and loot , and problem still remain?

 

the main problem lies in the mod files structure, and you have to check it, then clean it manually.

 

basically there are some "stand alone" mods including followers, body edits etc. that are itself including skeletons, and hdt plugins. but these can be outdated, and cause high fps drop if you have already installed newest "XP32 Maximum Skeleton Extended" and SKSE files "hdt Physics Extensions". Even if you overwrite outdated mods in the priority list, for your newest ones, it wont help, because these still will conflict with the main Skeleton and HDT files. 

 

so the only way is to open potentially causing incompatiblity issues mod dir and fix it.

to do so, use right mouse button on the mod in the mod organizer, select "open in explorer" and check if the mod includes skeleton and hdt files - compare folder structure to mentioned master mods. and then you have two options - 

 

*if hdt files and skeleton files are optional in mod, you can delete them and mod will use your newest versions.

 

*if mod is bound to these and can;t properly function without them, you need to replace them with your newest ones.

 

to check which mod causes issues, you can load your mod list one by one, and test it in game until you notice fps drop and then use "my method", always have backup.

 

I have already fixed few mods causing issues by this method, and im so far happy without losing fps.

 

 

bonus fix for the ENB users:

your installed ENB can have initially enabled - SPEED HACK, and if you are using fast gaming pc this option will only cause problems and confuse your gpu with too big fps.

its recommended to disable it on .ini and then enable your vysync option (framerate limiter locked on 60fps. more than 60 is potentially harmful for skyrim).

for some reason mine vysync option in skyrim .ini doesnt work. so i had to FORCE this option in the nvidia control panel. warning: do not use ENB .ini frame limiter, it will cause stuttering, spikes etc. use built in skyrim one or nvidia/amd.

 

to show your fps - enbale this option on your steam, or use external software from your gpu manufacturer.

If you're using an AMD GPU, get RadeonPro and enable VSync through that. Also handy is RadeonPro's fps limiter & Triple Buffering.

 

Combine the FPS Limit, Tripple Buffering, VSync and enabling iFPSClamp in Skyrim.ini will yield you a smooth gaming experience.
