Recently, I have encountered a bug with the textures in Skyrim, where a lot of dark colors are turned into grey pixels. I have snapped a few screen shots so you can see what I mean.

I noticed this after installing a race mod, Yaksha. I'm not sure if it is the direct cause of it all. I haven't had time with midterms going on to really sift through my data files and manually find the problem. If anyone has any idea as to how I can fix it, I would be delighted to know.

Also, it appears that the what is seen in the pixels is what is behind the buildings.

The problem is fixed after installing Superb ENB. Though, I would still like to know as to what caused this pixilization.

Ok, the main problem that I can see stems from a missing d3d9.dll file. This of course puzzles me because if it is because I mistakenly deleted the ENB one (which replaced the original) months ago, then why has just in the last few weeks decided to act up?

And of course, one solution breeds more problems. With the Superb High performance d3d9.dll, the game occasionally dies while fast traveling and entering new cells. This happens while loading. The screen goes black and ambient noises begin playing, but the game becomes unresponsive.

Removing the enb files, d3d9.dll included and running a validation check through Steam does not replace the missing d3d9.dll but instead creates a new enbseries.ini file.

Also strange is that it is not the same as either the Superb enbseries.ini or the Performance and Quality ENB by HBogard.

I do not believe that Skyrim originally came with an enbseries.ini, but I could be wrong.

Of course, this whole thing could just be that I need to update my graphics card as Firedoom pointed out.

I will update and request a thread lock if that is the case.

It appears to be a graphics card driver issue if I'm not mistaken. ENB has solved some issues with my old ATI card (somehow). I wouldn't be able to see fire in-game at all without ENB.

Well the thing is, I had it working perfectly fine for months.

Could be that I just need to update my drivers.

I did find however that it worked with enb because it had a d3d9.dll.

Apparently, I had deleted it after getting rid of enb when it first came out because I hated the changed outdoor lighting.

But, with the Superb enb d3d9.dll file, the high performance one, I have trouble entering buildings and fast traveling sometimes. Trouble as in that the game loads partially and then dies, leaving me with a black screen and ambient noise.

I have put the d3d9.dll Superb provided in a seperate temp file and tried to verify data with Steam, but all it did was make a ENBseries.ini file.

Never go messing with your dll files!! You greatly messed up all your DirectX and graphics drivers by the looks of it.

- Turn off Anti-aliasing, if you installed the offical high texture pack it automatically turns it back on. If it fixes the issue you don't need to do the next steps but I advise you to do it.

- Remove ALL mods!

- Try uninstalling and reinstalling your graphics drivers.

- Reinstall DirectX, this link will help you find the one for your operating system.

Any problems just come back here.

The texture blocks were solved with an updated graphics driver, but the problem of the game crashing while fast traveling when using a ENB d3d9.dll still persists.

Is there anyway to fix the ENB d3d9 problem without removing all 129 or so mods?

Try disabling the mods one by one and see if it still happen, bit of a pain in the ass I know but if it's just one mod then it saves removing them all. If that doesn't work let me know.

From the way it crashes, it appears to be a mod bug. Also, the game seems to freeze when I enter combat, so that might narrow down my search.

edit 1- Ok, so apperently realisticwatertextures.esp causes a game freeze anytime someone dies, maybe cause of something to do with blood, I dunno.

The game still crashes to desktop when entering certain new cells. Also, there has been an oddity that I have been observing while testing mod breaks. Whenever my cross hair is over an actor or if my back is to them, any dialogue currently being said by them is immediately muted. I am unaware of any mod which could have messed with actor volume, and going through my most recently installed mods have revealed nothing.

edit 2-

Sound problem was solved after I found that it involved New Vegas as well. Something about how Bethesda has their actors speak, it will make things bug out if your sound system believes that you are tying to use surround sound.

Game crashing on entering things such as forts persists, going to finnally go through every mod and see what is screwing up.

Ok, finally figured out the cause of the game crashing when I enter a new cell, like a fort, for example. It is because I have more than 108 mods active at once. I think I once heard of this problem, but never really thought about it too much. I'll go through a google search for some solutions.

Edit 1- Well, it's not 108 mods, it was a combo of different things apparently.

Black sacrament armor.esp always wants to be on the bottom. Spell master of time and space.esp cannot coexist with Power master of time and space.esp. Either one of these causes a crash to desktop when entering different cells. Hopefully this should solve all of the problems I have been having.
