Starfish Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I have a problem with CTD on start up lately, that's really it. I've checked my load order which has not been changed since I could actually play the game a week ago. I've just updated SMIM alternate start and Leanwolfs Better Shaped Weapons, non of which should be really a problem, rebuild Merged Patch, Bashed patch, PerMa and FNIS in this order. Since I was able to work without any problem with TES5Edit I don't suspect any masters are missing, because they are not. The same thing apply to Wrye Bash, all esps are green and the latest save files are all OK too. This is what is happening. I run the SKSE through Mod Organizer like always, the game starts, the message about available updates to ENB appears, then the join the steam community message and after that the game crashes. Always. What could cause CTD after entering the main menu apart missing masters?
delgathar Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 ENB or Video Driver issues. Also some SKSE mods configured wrong like onetweak. Also, steam might try updating skyrim on you if you don't have that option disabled. skyrim.ini and skyrprefs.ini can also do it. Also, when in doubt, just run LOOT again and read the messages.
Starfish Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 The problem is I haven't touched my ENB or INI files for couple of months and they are separated from anything steam can do to them, the auto update is disabled. I'm not using onetweak, I tried it for a second some time ago (in this profile) but it wasn't worthy. LOOT says nothing which could CTD, except couple of warnings about ITMs in ELFX exteriors.esp and ETaC Complete ELFX patch, but I ignored these two from the very beginning so I see no reason why it should backfire now. I've activated papyrus logging but for some reason it didn't work, if mod organizer isn't storing logs somewhere else of course. I really don't want to start a new character, because my intend was is to finally finish the game for the first time. (modding is a terrible distraction, and I'm addicted)
jacb Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 If not missing masters, it's ENB/SKSE conflicting with other applications. Like overwolf from team speak tends to prevent ENB from starting. Try starting Skyrim without mods/ENB/SKSE (in every combination, if necessary) to check if that still works. And check ini files for sanity, just to be sure. In theory could be conflicting mods, but from the top of my head only ones that actually 'fired up' on menu load are ones that make emblem spin or remove smoke - hardly the stuff that could ruin anything.
Starfish Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 I have a Main Menu Wallpaper Randomizer mod but I'm using it without any problems for years, and like I said, I haven't touched the ini files for weeks (except today I activated the papyrus logging) nor any enb or skse scripts. All these files are installed for quite a long time and I know that they were working together, but suddenly it is crashing without any sane reason.
