NPCs don't have correct skill levels

The title is pretty self explanatory. I am trying to get a mod called Honed Metal to work. The purpose of the mod is to allow blacksmiths to craft items for you. It's compatible with Perkus Maximus as well which I am using. I am also using ASIS, but for some reason, when I click Eorlund Grey-mane and do "getav smithing" he only has like 44 points in it. Is there a mod which fixes this? It's also not only for Eorlund, but for many others as well.

I assume Honed Metal is supposed to give Eorlund a higher smithing skill level than 44?

This might be an issue with installing Honed Metal on a save that's already in progress. I remember a while back when I tried editing a vanilla follower's weapon skills, but the changes would only be present if I started a new game, not if I loaded an existing one where the NPC had already been spawned prior to the changes.

Honed metal uses algorithms to calculate NPCs skill level yes, but the mod says it is completely safe to use, and can be removed and added anytime without problems. Ah well I might just learn to live with it.

A lot of porn sites and software say they're safe to use, too.

Then lo and behold, you mysteriously get a virus from all of those "safe" sites you've visited.

Catch my analogy?

I know it doesn't help you neither answer your question but I use NPCs can craft, you can set yourself NPCs blacksmith/enchanting/alchemy levels. I disable the scan feature so scripts don't run constantly and add them manually instead (you get a power for that).

Well the mod had a MCM feature to adjust the skill of a nearby blacksmith. While browsing through its comments section I stumbled upon some other person asking the same question, and the author told him to set the NPCs skill manually using the mod's MCM function. Apparently the mod calculates the skill level of a NPC using algorithms based on the character's level. So I'm thinking, since in Skyrim, NPCs level with you and since I am level 4, maybe it's the reason why Eorlund had only 44 in smithing, since he might currently be low level as well.
