[PROBLEM SOLVED] Adding a Type3 female base model via G.E.C.K.

I downloaded Kendo 2's Type3 Body Pack for Fallout 3: GOTY with the intentions of changing my player female model and female npc models to one of the body choices in the pack but I haven't been able to figure it out and the internet/forum isn't giving any answers from what I've searched through. I do have some basic knowledge of how to use G.E.C.K. I just can't seem to find how to change the female body base model. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've been stuck searching for quite some time.

Are you installing your mods manually, or through a mod manager?

I've only installed one mod via G.E.C.K. and that was Kendo 2's ME3 Jack Outfit for Type3, I have Nexus Mod Manager, LOOT and FO3Edit for installing mods with the manager. I haven't installed anything else yet because I'm trying to figure out how to solve this issue with adding the Body Pack .nifs with G.E.C.K..

I should also add that I do know how to install mods both manually and with a mod manager.

If your just installing a body replacer, all it requires is installing it in the meshes and textures. You don't need to do it in GECK.

Okay, I see what you are trying to do.

You need to create the file path first (i.e. main folder/meshes/character/_male) and drop the femaleupperbody.nif in _male and once you are done you need to compress the folder by right clicking on the main folder (rename the main folder to something else) and select Add to archive. It will compress the file and you should be able to install the archive file through NMM. I know you can for FOMM so I would assume NMM will as well.

Just remember to pick only one femaleupperbody.nif to use. Don't place them all in there.

It worked! I added one of the Type3 .nif body variants to it's own folder and followed your instructions and it's now downloaded and added to my NMM. I've never done this method before so I just want to ask and make sure that this will work if I select the mod to install in my NMM. If I install I'll see the new body variant in-game on all females, both player and npc's, correct?

Yeah it should work fine now. Mod managers cannot read just a FOMOD or Archive with no file path for the file it corresponds to. As long as you don't have another body replacer overwriting the one you installed, you should be fine. I don't know how NMM works because I don't use it.

This is going to be the only body replacer I use. However what about updates for the body variant I use? For example, I chose the CALIBOOBS.nif from the Body Pack and renamed it to femaleupperbody.nif then archived it and added it to my NMM but on the same website is an update for the CALIBOOB.nif that Kendo recommends using. How would I go about adding the update for the new body replacer I just added?

Well when you compress the file, you can actually go about deleting the one you have in the compress file and placing the updated CALI body (renamed as femaleupperbody) and drag it into the _male path in the archive file. Just make sure to have a backup of your old one. So you would just uninstall the old one and reinstall it with the new one. And reinstall with NMM.

I did it! Thank you very much for your help and patience with me, I'm still really new to modding and I guess I have a lot to learn yet lol.

Anytime. It's a learning process, but you'll get the whole hang of it.
