Trying to make a follower with custom hair...

Hi, this is the first time i write here so hello to you. Im not native to english, so my grammar sucks a bit, but I understand everything so dont hesitate to write if you can help me :P

I try to make a follower with custom hair, I used this tutorial: http://hubpages.com/hub/Hot-to-Turn-Your-Skyrim-Character-into-a-Follower

and one tutorial from a wiki,

so i understand how to do it, the thing is that i cant find the bloody meshes/nif/tri files. I tried to give my follower apachii-skyhair number 19 from the 1.5 version (high elf male.) And I cant find it, ive gone through every single hair in the ck and im turning crazy that i cant find it. The hair is available in the racemenu so im not trying to add something that doesent work with the race etc. Anyone that know what the hair is called in the ck? I dont find any helpful things in the readmes, or the pictures, it only says number 19.

Thank you for your time and have a nice day :)

Hello.

be sure when you open in CK the mod you are making for the follower to also check the Apachii mod.

If you don't, its hairs will not be available in CK.

Then you can just use it for your follower. But you will make a hard dependency between your mod and Apachii.

Or you can copy the items that compose the hair, copy the nifs/textures in folders you will create for your mod, and then update the path for the nifs for your copied hair. In this case your mod will NOT be dependent from Apachii.

What is your native language?

Thanks for your reply :)

Hmmm, when i try to do that the ck crashes, or "abort something something"  I thought i didnt need to check apachii, what the ***** am i then messing with? :P

As far as i know im making it standalone, thats what the wiki says anyways...... which means im making a new hairline/hair and are collecting the meshes from the data folder. Or is it dependent then?

Im Swedish :)

The point is this one:

if you use the nifs/textures from the original folder, then your mod will work only if the original folder is there.

If you put a dependency to another mod (like Apachii) then your mod can run only when the other mod is activated.

But you can copy the NIFs/Textures and place them in a folder that you will create and distribute with your mod.

Of course be aware that many modders do not allow to reuse their contents. (Apachii does. Just credit it if you release your mod.)

Be aware also that if you mode a NIF/texture to a different folder, then you have to edit the NIF (with NifSkope) to make its texture references to point to the new location.

P.S. Sorry I do not speak swedish.

Aha.... I see, btw you don´t know any good tutorials in general when it comes to creating a follower with custom stuff? I lost some when i wiped my computer.

Damn, i was hoping i could tinker with the ck without any other programs, but will check out nifskope, thanks for the help :)

P.S. Hej ( same as hello) now you can a little ;)

Hej Bendbone.

After you get a little of the different object in CK you need for a follower, then creating one is not too much complex.

Things you may want to consider:

1) Custom face + eyes + hair (medium difficulty)

2) Custom body (with or without a special Race) (medium difficulty)

3) Special Race (easy)

4) Special clothes (that is pretty easy.)

5) Assigning it to the correct factions to make it available as follower. (easy)

About NifSkope there are tons of tutorials to use it.

To just replace the path of a texture you can do this:

1) open the nif with NifSkope

2) Find a node called BSShaderTextureSet

3) Expand it and fix the path of the textures (or replace completely them.)
