Need help with MagicEffect/FX Shader in CK

I am trying to create a holographic character by modifying the ghostability spell effect.  First thing I did was to uncheck the particle shader to remove the bloom, and the resulting solid shape is good.  However, I noticed that the shader effect is not uniform.  The character is very bright on top (face) and fades towards the bottom (leg).  This makes sense for a ghost but not for a hologram.  I tried messing around with the filler texture ghostshadergrad.dds by expanding the middle portion of the dds and the result looked terrible and still getting the too bright face.  I have no idea what I was doing with Gimp so I might have done it wrong.  I am also looking at the EffectShader panel in Special Effects in CK but I have no idea what it means.

How can I make the FXShader effect uniform covering the entire character?

Also, is it possible to apply magic effect (FX shader) only to the character and not to the weapon?  The idea is to have the hologram holding a solid weapon/equipment.

Lastly, is it easy to mess with the particle shader effect to something similar to hologram and not ghost?  I am guessing it's possible but I want to know if it's doable for someone with no clue how shader works.

Thanks

Shaders can be applied to the whole NPC (including armors and weapons) or just to the skin.

Not sure if the effect you wish to accomplish can be done just on the skin of the NPC/Player.

There is a checkmark on the top/left corner to apply the effect to the skin only.

Keep in mind that in this case the texture that you will apply will be applied twice: once for the body+feet+hands and the same texture will be applied to the face.
