FrankenLife Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 So I am coming back to Skyrim after a long break. I started poking around checking out some new mods, updated some of my old stuff aaaannnnddd It all seems to go to shit on me. Since it is about time for my annual skyrim full clean install. Since it has been so long since I have messed around with this stuff, I don't remember all the little files and plugins that made the mods run properly. I remember the precachekiller that I need, and I have a copy of an SKSE.ini file that is supposed to help everything run. But I can't think of much else. I know there was something about Jcontainers, but couldn't tell you what a jcontainer is or why I would have anything to do with it. I tend to run a lot of scrip heavy mods, and vanilla replacers. HDT where possible and BBP all the women. What are some of the core things that I need to make these mods run more smoothly? I don't mind looking up recommended things for each mod again, but I'm trying to avoid searching support forums for 60+ mods when the answer is I'm missing some common plugin. Does this make sense, or am I rambling?
jajohn Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 While it might not be specifically for your situation, this guide:http://www.loverslab.com/topic/47360-anatriaxs-wonderful-world-of-skyrim/?hl=wonderfulHas many great points and covers the stability mods, utilities and such. Of course with any specific mod you want to install, the best is to check what the author says is required.
Anatriax Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 If you DO follow my guide? please, adhere to each section word for word. It's quite important for stability and performance. Look at my posted system specs. If yours are less than mine, make a post asking about optional textures, or how to reduce things to help make your game run properly. Don't just pick and choose what you want to remove. I know which mods have the biggest performance impact, so that you can keep a great looking game, with minimal performance issues.
FrankenLife Posted May 31, 2015 Author Posted May 31, 2015 Thank you very much, I'll read it over. Just looking at the specs I should be fine I think. CPU and Mobo are older, but not bad. My current specs: cpu: i7 950 Ram: 6GB Corsair Vengence GPU: GTX 970 4gb I still have to read over your post, but is there something that keeps scripts tidy and fresh. Like is there a way for me to run Beeing Female, allow for npc generation at birth, and not have the scripts turn into bloatware as it tries to keep track of everything. I know that is a specific mod question, but the problem is more to do with what happens when scripts pile up.
