MikeJones84 Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 For example an NPC will start talking and when I walk past them their voice clip suddenly stops until I turn around and look at them. How can I fix this?
Guest Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Well its called 7.1 surround sound, lol the reason this happens has nothing to do with Skryim its your sound do you have windows 7 or windows 8?
Guest Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Windows 8 with VIA VT1708S audio. I don't use any of those lol but its probably similar to what I have go to control panel>Hardware and sound>Sound right click on Speakers then click Configure Speakers and do a test to see if all your channels are working if some are silent try switching channels, disable them or depending on your headphones you may have a program than can active surround sound. Depending on your sound probably realtek there is an audio manager that lets you change several options such as stereo, surround 5.1 surround 7.1 and even change what speakers(Channels) your headphones/speakers can use.
MikeJones84 Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 I did that. There are 4 options: Stereo, Quadrophonic, 5.1 Surround, and 7.1 Surround. I tested all of them and they each make sound in my headphones so I don't know what to make of it. I have it set on Stereo by default (does it need to be on surround?). My audio driver software doesn't seem to have any option for surround sound.

Also when you did that test could you hear the sub speaker? What is your headphones model?
MikeJones84 Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 No I only hear left and right channels, everything else is silent. No idea what model my headphones are. They're just simple headphones with no driver or anything.
Guest Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Oh that's why you probably have 2.1 (stereo) sound, first make sure its on stereo and what you can do is go back to your active headphones speaker and go to configure speakers again under the "enhancements" tab click something called "Virtual Surround," it can also be labled as Headphone Virtualization.
MikeJones84 Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 I don't seem to have that option. Under "Enhancements" there is only Loudness Equalization, Sound Equalizer, Environment Modeling, and Room Correction.

Hmmm possible because your motherboard/soundcard doesn't support it that sucks, anyway I could recommend Razor Surround it should be able to fix your issue either that or buy a better pair of headphones other than that I don't know what else you can do let me know if you manage to fix it.
MikeJones84 Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 I appreciate the help anyway. I'll report back later when I can try some things.

Yeah no problem I remember someone had this same issue before so you're not the first to experience this, you're unable to hear the audio because its not playing on the proper channels and I don't think skyrim can be set to stereo only but I am unsure.
