trpd Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 i've never considering myself to be FPS sensitive, sure higher fps is smoother but not that i feel discomfort if to play at lower one. I'm pushing skyrim to the limit now and can't maintain 60 fps . When walking near walls/pillars or simply looking udner feed i noticed textures jitter like crazy. Most visible on close high contrast textures that travel large distances per frame when moving camera. It starts when fps drops just under 60 fps, did try some fixes (disabling vsync among them ) without success. Then i tried limiting fps and as strange as it sounds - limiting it to 30 fps helps with the issue, not as smooth as 60 but definetly smoother then in between. Any ideas? i don't want to force limit fps like this it can't be the right fix.
4onen Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 60 FPS is the refresh rate of most monitors, and VSync is required because if the graphics card starts a new frame halfway through a monitor refresh (or doesn't complete a new frame in time) there is a horizontal line between the previous frame and the next frame. I personally can't stand it, and I also don't see a problem with limiting my graphics processor to what is necessary (Rather than what it is capable of.) If the textures are literally moving, I have no clue what is causing it. If they're just getting that horizontal line, that means you do in fact need to enable VSync (if those lines irritate you like they do me.)
trpd Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 It's not tearing. Yup you can see the textures "jump". It could maybe be comapred to lag at 15 fps? Except it happens at 50 and limiting it to 30 fps helps with the issue. Vsync when game rendeds at lower then monitor rate is not good thing. But i did try disabling it and it didn't help - maybe disabling it in drivers and enb is not enough
